Young Bird 2Bird Nominated Race Winners 2014

The two young bird races saw continued support for the 2Bird Nominated races with pay outs of close to £2000 for the two races. The prize money is always nice but many find the kudos of selecting their Nominated bird both challenging and when it comes off very rewarding. The Belgians in particular place great importance on the Nominated system. They realise that to race nomination against nomination is the real ‘level Playing field’ whether one sends 2 or 102 pigeons.

The two latest trophy winners from Portland and Carentan shows Open winners from the North East and North West sections to Don Footitt and Mitch Denson & Son respectively. So let’s take a closer look at these winning fanciers and of course their birds.

Portland

First we will talk about the Portland race. Don Footitt’s winner is a Blue w/f hen that recorded 1572. The bird has unsurprisingly got previous wins to her credit with 2nd club and fed from Blandford and 3rd club and fed from Salisbury. Her sire is a Hereman-Ceusters bred bird from D Roberts and her mother a Keith Morgan hen. 2nd Open goes to the well known partnership of Ron & Nigel Dennett who clocked a chequer cock on 1560. In 3rd Open and winning 1st South West section is John Fretwell who timed a Blue cock on 1554. I also noticed that these three fanciers also took these places with their first timers in the full race. This is credit to both their selection and their pigeons. Don Footitt in fact timed his other nominated bird to win 10th Open as well so very well done Sir. This bird was bred out of Keith Morgan stock and like the race winner has a good previous CV which included 1st club and a Fed win from Blandford

The other section winning birds from Portland are as follows: North section John Coxon 1543, South Centre section D J Aston 1518, North West section Adams Bros 1499, East section Drinkell Son & Parrott 1498, South East section D Sturgess Son & Grandson 1434, East South East section Terry Roughton 1424, West section R & B Smith 1395 and North North West section J L Noblett & Son 1275.

Carentan

The winner of the Carentan 2 Bird Nominated race is the Tunstall based partnership of Mitchell Denson & Son from the North West section who timed their well fancied Mealy hen who not only won the 2 bird Nominated race but also the £2 Unlimited Nom she was in fact a comfortable winner with a velocity of 1176. 2nd Open is taken by the North section winners A Bainbridge & Son who recorded 1121 with their Blue cock bird. It is back to the North West section for the 3rd Open winner which belongs to F Hinchcliffe & Sons from Glossop who timed their Dark hen on 1103.

Working around the other sections we see:  In 1st North North West and 4th Open P & B Taylor who enjoyed a good race on 1096, South East section for the second race running D Sturgess Son & Grandson of Desborough 1050, West section Derrick Jones 1045, South West section Gary Downing 941, North East section Mr & Mrs Wild 665 and the East section Norman Robinson 612.

The Midlands National FC committee hopes that the seven 2Bird Nominated race winners will be at Doncaster to collect their winners trophies believe me these races are hard to win as it requires good selection to be successful.
