Hello folks,
North Liverpool Federation’s second young bird race of 2014 took place from Hereford on Sunday 3rd August. In stark contrast to the week previous, race marking was delayed 24 hours due to bad weather forecast further down the country. And so it was at 9.45am the strings were cut and the convoy made for home in a strong south west wind.
Brian & Terry Snagg take 1st position at the Edgehill with a blue hen bred out of ‘39‘, a winner of 2x1st club and the last son of the prolific ’14’ a 2 times NL Fed topper when paired to the '68 hen'. Alan & Colin Baker take 2nd and 3rd positions once more this week. First timer is another of their Irish imports, this time a dark cheq cock bred by Ralph Wheatley of Galway followed by a black Alfons Slaets cock, the nest-mate took 3rd club last week. Mick Fox takes 4th position with a grizzle Roland Janssen hen bred by Brother John. Congratulations Brian & Terry.
Ted Davin & Son take the first four positions at the Litherland (9/344). The winner is a blue Walter Docx hen whose dam is a winner of 2x2nd NL Fed while her g‘dam is a fed topper. Second timer is Docx x Busschaert via Gerry Clements and the sire also bred Vin Maguire’s ’71’. Third timer is another Walter Docx this time a son of 801 and it is a full brother to George Farley’s recent 2nd NW Combine winner. Fourth timer is a Van Loon x Heremans Ceusters youngster via Steven Goulding and Tam Blair of Scotland parentage. Thanks Ted and congratulations mate.
Charlie McArdle & Terry Archbold take 1st and 3rd positions at the Netherton on 1853.9 and 1852. The winner is through a Raoul Gossen cock which won 1st club, 12th NL Fed and 2nd club, 4th NL Fed as a yearling, when paired to a daughter of ’62’ a winner of 9x1st club, 1st and 2nd NL Fed and many other prizes. At stock he has proven just as successful, breeding no less than 6 separate 1st NL Fed winners. Second timer is through ’28’ a mealy cock that has won well and bred a hen to win 1st club 5th NL Fed and 2nd club, 8th NL Fed in his first nest. Dam is another daughter of ’62’ once more passing on her sire’s pre-potent genes. John & John Gosling and Thomas Grice take 2nd position on 1853.7 with a cheq Koopman cock bred by John & Tony Porter through their directs. Thanks Terry.
Steve & Debbie Walsh take 1st position at the Central clocking a Micky Lennon bred Roger Maris youngster and Steve & Debbie would like to thank Micky for breeding them yet another winner. Mark, Daniel & Connor Pearson take 2nd position with a Denis Sapin youngster from Andy Gregson stock via Terry Hodson. Billy Early takes 3rd position with a Van Reet out of Miller Brothers stock. Reece Brothers & Caples take 4th position with a homebred youngster via Micky Lennon stock. Thanks Terry.
Graham, Wendy & Connor Muirhead shut out the first four positions at the Riverside (7/167) on 1844 (x2), 1826 and 1824. All four timers are of Willy Jacobs bloodlines, the winner coming from the loft of club-mate Stan Brown, followed by one out of ‘29’, next one from the stock loft at Paddy Cousins, followed by a homebred youngster. John Warren, son & Marty Garrity take 1st position at the Bootle (6/137) clocking last week’s winner, a Willy Jacobs x Roger Maris for his second red on 1815. Lee & Kenny Byrne clock a pair for 2nd and 3rd positions on 1814 and 1813. RSMF Lofts take 4th positions on 1812, no further details to hand. Thanks Keith.
John Pugh takes the first 4 positions at the Crosby with four youngsters bred out of his Campbell Brothers stock. Congratulations John. Thanks Joe.
Thomas Gilligan wins again at the Spellow also taking 2nd and 4th position on 1830, 1829 and 1827. The winner and second placed pigeons are both bred by Stevie Willo & John Murphy, with last week‘s winner settling for the bridesmaid slot this time around. Third timer is a Willy Jacobs bred by Warren, son & Garrity. Thomas would like to thank Willo & Muff and also John Gosling & Thomas Grice for all of their help and advice. John & Alan Johnson & Darren Pattison take 3rd position on 1828 with a Vandenabeele x Docx youngster bred out of stock obtained from Charlie McArdle & Terry Archbold. Jeff Bowman showcases his mastery of young bird racing by taking the first four positions at the Pirrie and incredibly duplicates the result in the federation. The winner is a blue Jacobs x De Meyer hen, followed by another blue hen through Blue Velvet and Merlin 63. Third timer is a blue pied hen of Bernie & Steven Coulter x John Gosling bloodlines followed by a John Gosling & Thomas Grice bred cheq hen. Congratulations Jeff on an outstanding team performance. Paul Caffrey & Son take the first three positions at the Kirkdale (7/189) on 1832, 1831 and 1821. The winner and runner up are of Micky Betts bloodlines (Thanks Mick - Paul). Third timer is a North East youngster bred by Arthur Davidson (Thanks Arthur - Paul). George Croxton & Bobby White take 4th position on 1816 with a youngster purchased at a breeder buyer sale. Billy Dooley, Paddy Rowan & Sid Chapman take the first three positions at the Princes Park. The winner is a homebred blue Lambrecht cock followed by a white Camiel Cardon youngster bred out of a son of White Wonder when paired to a daughter of the number 2 pair. Third timer is a blue pied hen bred by Paddy Cousins. Miller & Sons take 4th position with a De Scheemaecker cock bred at the Natural Stud in Antwerp that was selected for Tommo by father Les on a visit to Belgium. Thanks Tom.
Stevie Willo & John Murphy take 1st and 2nd positions at the Vauxhall clocking 2 Mandelartz youngsters, with the winner coming down from the 50/50 lines via good friends Taylor & Edwards. John & Fran McDowell take 3rd and 4th positions with 2 Vandenabeele youngsters. First timer is a cheq hen out of a grandson of Jester & Carrie, with the dam coming down from the Golden Gaby lines, followed by a blue cock out of a son of Myrtle Lofts breeder Jacko when paired to a direct Vandenabeele hen owned by John Blundell. John & Lee Maguire take 1st 3rd and 4th positions at the Taylors Arms (14/455) with a Vandenabeele x Lambrecht hen on 1854, 1819 and 1816. Sire of this hen was a winner in 2014. Second timer is a Heremans Ceusters with the sire coming from Ype Hemstra and the dam via good friend Paul Beaumont, followed by a Vandenabeele which is the same way bred as other winners for John & Lee. Brian Halsall takes 2nd position on 1820 with a hen bred from the Pied Kannibaal, sire of 3x1st for Collum Reid of Dungarvan, Co Tyrone while the dam comes from John Gosling and she bred some tidy pigeons for John before moving to Brian’s including 1st Liverpool Amal gold-ring and a sister topped the fed this year.
