Pirrie Flying Club 2013 Presentation
Premier Prize Winner 'Mr Consistent' Jeff Bowman
Hello folks,
The first door of the winter social calendar swung wide open on Friday October 18th with a visit to the Railway Club, Melling Lane for the Pirrie FC 2013 prize presentation.
Making up the visiting south end contingent were my old man Cliff, club-mate Terry Snagg, a man who let it be known has had his fingers in many pies (of the pigeon variety) and the baby faced assassin Tommo Robinson.
All the good seats had gone by the time we arrived and there was a good buzz around the place as we waited for the evening to commence. Compere for the evening was none other than the King himself, Kenny Simpson. Kenny was accompanied at the prize table by guest of honour and Litherland legend Teddy Davin and before the trophies were handed out, both men gave heartfelt endorsements on the members of this great club. High praise indeed.
The evening’s entertainment was provided by none other than the multi talented Simon Maguire who throughout the night delivered his usual slick, well oiled vocal performance as well as playing wing man during Kenny‘s introductions.
Simon was sharing the rosta with local duo , who performed a number of classics while taking on a multitude of personas including Freddie Mercury, Mrs Brown, Roy Chubby Brown and Woody and Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story, great stuff!

Ted Davin touched upon the fact that not only were the winners catered for, but each member was able to enjoy subsidised birdage which like the Vauxhall club has to be applauded in these times of rising costs. Everybody gets a little something and that is how it should be.
There was a cracking hot buffet that followed the presentation and hats off to the catering team as the food really was top class.
Thanks to everybody for making us welcome on the night and hats off to the men who continue to cement the Pirrie FC as one of the premier racing pigeon clubs not just in the North Liverpool Federation, but in the city of Liverpool.
Congratulations to premier prize winner Jeff Bowman who was virtually untouchable for a number of weeks during the Summer. Congratulations also to Tommy Hibbs and Jimmy Foley who will join Jeff as the Pirrie representatives who topped the North Liverpool Federation in 2013.
As I recall there were also very close calls for John & John Gosling, John & Gary Hartless and Paul Howard and Billy Fulton & Eddie Meacock, well done to all concerned and the very best of luck to you all in 2014.
Keith Warham drops a line with some updates on the Litherland and Crosby joint prize presentation due to be held on 8th November 2013 at the Royal British Legion in Orrell Lane. Tickets for the event are £5 and are available from Ted Davin.
Litherland HS are also holding a series of shows during the winter commencing 12th November with Old Cocks, 19th November is Old Hens followed by Young Cocks on the 26th November, Young Hens on 3rd December, Colour Class on the 10th December, before the curtain is brought down with an Eye-Sign Class on 17th December.

For further information I believe Fred Lloyd is the contact but Keith has not provided any telephone numbers, no doubt if you’re heading over to Mersey Pets Dennis will have some numbers available there.
