JOURNEY’S END - N.I.P.A NOTES
As the 2024 Racing Season has drawn to a close, we now look ahead to the off season. In the next coming months fanciers and clubs reflect on their season while also getting a well-deserved break from action. The Months of November usually signals the start of Prizegiving Presentation nights from club level and beyond. A Busy period for myself with many reports to be compiled over the Winter months with lots going on.
LIGONIEL H.P.S. PRESENTATION NIGHT
First up on the Prizegiving Calendar was Ligoniel & District H.P.S. in Section C. Ligoniel H.P.S. Saturday 2nd of November in Ligoniel Pigeon Club. It was an honour for me and Dad to be invited to enjoy the Night. Always a well organised night which by the members and to all involved. A vast array of Silverware is handed out on the night giving the winners a great reward for their great racing throughout the year. A Beautiful meal with great music and great craic. Everyone had a brilliant night celebrating.
Ligoniel Chairman Darren McMurray got the evening underway by expressing his gratitude on behalf of the club thanking all the members for another great year. And a Big thanks to the Guest of the Evening Stephen Brown of S&S Brown Racing Pigeons top flyers and also top YouTube Creator with top videos of all aspects of Racing who presented the Silverware. And thanks to Jackie Henry & Myself for taking pictures of the presentation. And a special thanks to Club Secretary for all his time and work put into the Club.
Top Prize Winners of the Year was Bingham & Seaton winning a total of 6 in Old Birds & 6 in Young Birds accompanied by 2 Section C Wins. Leo & Billy & Dora Also Won Section C Champion Youngbird of the Year within the N.I.P.A. Winners of the M P O’Sullivan Trophy for Top Prize winners. Taylor Memorial Trophy for Winner of the 1st Youngbird Race. Harry Anderson Memorial Trophy for Penzance O.B. Winners of O.B Inland National Shield. The Sure to Fix Trophy for Best Inland Averages
McMurray & Anderson finished the season with 5 N.I.P.A. O.B Club Wins & 3 N.I.P.A. Y.B Club Wins along with Youngbird Section C Fanciers of the Year in the N.I.P.A. Racing against tough opposition. Darren also won the French National Trophy. YB Inland National Shield. OB Channel Averages &Combine OB & YB Averages.
Conor McManus also gained a podium finish with 3 Wins from the first 3 Old Bird Races with 1st Section C Winners from the first race from Kilbeggan while winning the Page Set Up Design Trophy.
The Dunwoody Brothers took home silverware and broke their novice status by winning a great race in the 1st Channel Race from Dale with more to come in the future.
Colin McCormick also retained the Ligoniel Trophy from last year for Winning the Youngbird Channel National from Dale.
Also, the Big Winner of the Ligoniel Breeder Buyer Race was Bill Gilmore Winning 1st & 2nd a great result
Congratulations to all members of Ligoniel in 2024.
Ligoniel & District H.P.S. is one of the strongest and biggest clubs in the N.I.P.A. Members and Birdage wise. They also house some of the very best fanciers in the N.I.P.A. with Fantastic Flyers in Section and Open Results every week. This is evident with the accolades won throughout the years.

The sad news is that the Horseshoe H.P.S. is finished the ones that are left will be going to the Larne District club I would like to thank the fanciers who stay to try and keep the club going but all good things come to an end good luck to everyone for the future.
Downshire Lofts (Reduction Sale) – Eddie McAlinden
I wish to thank all those who purchased birds and those who helped in anyway with this Sale. With 50% of all Total given to the Newry Hospice. A Total of £3.477.17 was raised from the Sale with a Kind Donation from the McAlinden Family of £1.000 making it a total of £4.477.17 for the Hospice.
A Special thanks to Joe Ward from North South Pigeon Auctions for the professional manner the sale was run.
Also, Thanks to Mervyn Eagleson for Professional service of photography of the birds naturally plus artwork.

Trip to Blackpool
It is hoped to organise the “Duddy Bus” to Blackpool show in January 2025. Organising the trip will be John McConaghie, Alan Shanks and Robert Turkington. The travel arrangements will be differ this year as we will depart Friday morning 8am sailing (17th January 2025) from Belfast Stena line to Cairnryan and then the bus down to Blackpool staying Friday and Saturday night and departing Blackpool on Sunday around 1pm to catch the evening sailing. The bus will leave on usual from Ballybogey (near Coleraine early on Friday morning calling at the usual stops. A £50 deposit (non-refundable is required by 30th November with the full money payable by 31st December 2024, same as last year which worked very well to streamline the overall organisation. We will stay again in the Adelaide lodge hotel behind the winter garden
