THURROCK FEDERATION

Racing kicked off this weekend 12/04/25 with the Thurrock Federation revitalised after laying dormant for a numbers of years with 5 clubs taking part in this weekend’s fed race from Newark which lays in the district or Nottinghamshire with the federation’s shortest members racing a distance of around 100 to the longest around 130.

Steve Smith our federation conveyer arrived on site at around 12:30pm with a conveyor of around 570 birds ensuring the birds had plenty of rest after getting a few hours shut eye himself, Steve was up around 5am waiting to give the birds a good drink before liaising with our race controller Marcin Grzedowicz  a few phone calls and a clear line of flight was given, strings were cut and birds were away 9:00am into a clear blue sky with a light south east wind birds broke into two batches and cleared towards home with the wind being on their nose an ETA was around 2hrs 30min.

At around 2hrs 20min and a distance of around 107 mile Allan Parkhurst of Laindon RPC took pole position with a velocity of 1331 winning 1^st club 1st Fed with a Parkhurst Soontjen cheq cock raced on the widowhood system this super cheq hen was trained form Northampton and returned late which must of woke her up for a well-deserved win. Well done Allan a great start to the season.

1^st & 2^ND Pride of Laindon and 2^nd & 3^rd Thurrock Fed are the ever performing golden couple John & Gaynor Ashenden with a velocity of 1329 & 1337 their first bird a Blue Frans Zwol  hen her sire a winner of first fed . her dam a daughter of their Gaynor’s Gift. Their second bird Chequer hen bred by Russell Jaques  this hen has a baby was only entered into six races winning 1st fed ,2nd fed and 4th fed & now come out to win 3^rd Fed this hen is truly becoming Golden Hen. Well done

2^nd 3^rd & 4^th Laindon RPC 4^th 5^th & 6^th Thurrock Fed with velocity’s of 1310.2 1310.1 & 1310.0 Mr Portugal Alan Scarbough. A small team fancier with big results to his name. Alan’s three pigeons raced on the widowhood well done mate great flying.
