Cork South Road Organisation 27-11- 2015

Cork South Road Organisation

Sunday the 15th of November this prestigious organisation held its annual prize giving in the river lane. Firstly a big thank you to John Paul Doherty for superbly organising it, with efforts like John Paul and every member doing their bit it makes life much easier, and yes the members really appreciated it. Guest of honour was Mr Bill O'Hare, Bill is very well known in the London region as an excellent fancier and top administrator.

The highlight of any ambitious fancier is to register on national results, and certainly the cork south road members flew with distinction in these. With the variety of national races available and on offer one would be foolish not to recognise opportunity in that regard we have full provision for both IHU and I.N.F.C. markings again in 2016, Tom Murphy has received several subs already for 2016 so bring on the nationals. My own personal view is depending on a fanciers own personal ambition small club racing will satisfy some however for the national minded its probably a means to an end, this takes a different calibre of fancier with open class winning stock pre-potently soaked in winning genes, the gulf between national racing and any other is substantial with no hiding place in the nationals evidenced by studying the results the same names invariably appear, our organisation has no radius we have competing members over 40 miles to the west its irrelevant to us once an applicant is of good character they will be most warmly welcome. National certificate diplomas were awarded to Tony Healy, Finbarr O’Brien, Gerry Walsh and Ger O'Sullivan.

Chairman Jim Cummins receiving his prize Secretary.                              Alan Busteed receiving his prize from guest of honour Mr. Bill O'Hare.

Finbarr OBrien receiving his National diplomas.                         Ger O'Sullivan receiving his National diplomas.

Wayne Carroll receiving his prize.                                       Tony Healy receiving his prize from the smiling guest of honour.

Mattie Moore receiving his prizes.                                                 Mulcahy bros receiving his prize.

Gerry Walsh receiving his prizes.                                                      Finbarr O'Brien receiving his prizes.

Finbarr Long receiving his prizes.

As our organisation has an I.H.U. clock station and a particularly good relationship with the I.H.U. National we wish to thank particularly Joe Connolly - chairman and Patsy Dowling an excellent secretary and race committee for their highly efficient and excellent organisation, they are a credit to the sport.

With the presentation in full flow, a terrific atmosphere was evident once again. John Paul had some superb food organised followed by an excellent musician, the vibe being so good, quite a few members had a rather long evening.

Well being a member of such a well resourced and financed organisation brings its own comforts - yes an excellent and very enjoyable day out.
