PIGEON PIXELS ONE LOFT RACE 2015
Following the hugely successful first two years for the One Loft Race, Pigeon Pixels will once again be hosting an event for 2015. With an improved format for an already successful race we are once again anticipating a very competitive, exciting and rewarding race series.
Changes to the format include an increase of entrants to 64. We will be holding 5 Hotspot races from 103 miles 156 miles with the final once again from 176 miles. An increase in prize money for Hotpots has allowed prizes from £100-£250 for the Hotspot races with a £400 prize for the eventual winner of the OLR. The biggest change to the format is the inclusion of the ‘Best of the Best race from 236 miles in conjunction with the Irish National. The top 15 birds in the ‘Ace’ Bird standing following the OLR final will qualify for this race with the winner guaranteed £500! We will be holding a knockout competition throughout the series with the winner receiving £100. A Gold Ring scheme is once again in operation with the total amount spilt over the 5 Hotspots which currently stands at £68 per Hotspot. There are trophies for all the winners in addition to the prize money quoted, which currently exceeds £2,500!
We have 24 members currently confirmed for this year’s race which is an increase of members from last year’s race, with each member being restricted to 3 birds as opposed to 4 birds last year. We have numerous new members who have joined the site as a result of wishing to be involved in this fantastic event.
The previous two years have proved outstanding with performances and returns ranking against any OLR in the world. Eamon Wright, from Lurgan, N.Ireland is the loft manager and does a fantastic job keeping members up to date with activity in the loft and training throughout the series.
The reigning champion is Rob Beynon (Boxer) with an outstanding bird who put up the following results in last year’s series:- 1st Open 2nd Hotspot 103 miles 1st Open 3rd Hotspot 103 miles 3rd Open 4th Hotspot 124 miles 3rd Open 5th Hotspot 156 miles 1st Open Final Race 176 miles 1st ‘Ace Bird’ 2014 Pigeon Pixels One Loft Race Rob won £900 in total throughout the series and won 4 trophies in total! He is back this year once again to defend his crown! Over the last two years Eamon has produced some outstanding results with the birds that have been sent by members of Pigeon Pixels. The birds are raced in his local club and also compete in Section E of the NIPA.
The following results have been achieved with the One Loft birds last season:- Boxer - 32nd Section, 163rd Open NIPA, 103 miles, 18,683 birds Bunny - 6th Section, 55th Open NIPA, 123 miles, 21,391 birds Rasbull Lofts - 91st Section, 195th Young Bird National, 236 miles, 3,782 birds.
As you can Eamon has produced some outstanding results and the beauty of this race is that the member entering has the opportunity to have the bird returned at the end of the season free of charge! So should one of our members be lucky enough to win an Irish National, then they will have the choice to have the bird returned to their stock loft... some offer!
Alternatively those who wish to enter, have the option to leave the birds in Eamon’s loft to compete for the rest of the careers in the Irish Classic Challenge. These birds are prepared and geared towards winning an Irish National race. Again, another fantastic opportunity for members to have their birds tested against the best fanciers competing in the mighty NIPA.
Demand for the race has been excellent this year and currently we have 61 fully paid confirmed entries for this year’s event, with just 3 spaces remaining. The cost is £35 a bird which is excellent value for money when you look at the offer on the table in terms of enjoyment, prize money, competition and offer to have the bird returned. Anyone interested can follow the progress of this year’s entries in the race series on the Pigeon Pixels forum. Please visit www.Pigeonpixels.co.uk for more information.
Anyone wishing to register an account can do so free of charge by emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. Good luck to all this year’s entrants in what is going to prove and exciting and enthralling race for our members.
