PACKMOOR FLIERS TRY TO BREAK THE SOUND BARRIER !

Another good race at Packmoor flying from Kingsdown in the Moorlands Fed where 18 Packmoor members sent 360 birds. After the call came through that the birds had been libbed at 12-30 in a strong east south east wind and the members had been notified, it was off to the lofts to wait for the birds.
l think most people expected a fast race and we certainly got one. Everything had gone well on Friday night with Rob Slack getting the birds all sealed up and waiting for the transporter in plenty of time.
On Saturday at the lofts of Roberts Bros everything was set up nice and early e country we expected them to be home well before 3 o clock - and how right and with having a call that birds were doing 70mph in some parts of th we were as about 2-51 a blue yearling hen came racing up to the loft and trapped first. This is the same hen that came last week to take third place out of 384 birds and this week she did better by taking first prize out of the 360 birds entered. We?re hoping this hen is going to be a good one for us. The bird itself is a Hermen Cuester and the parents of this bird were supplied by one of Nottinghamshire?s top partnership Somers Brothers and their partner Ian Vernon (the fat controller). This loft must be the best loft in Nottinghamshire with performances we can only marvel at - so thanks go to Somers Bros and the fat controller Ian Vernon. We have been flying pigeons for 50 odd years and have never seen sprint performances these lads put in week in week out.

In second place is Mr & Mrs R Taylor with a yearling cock - a Kooperman x Hofkins, M Denson & on are in third place, fourth place goes to Walley & Wilkinson with another yearling, nice to see them back in the top six. While we are on about Golden Hill fanciers another one, Baz Cooper, paid us a visit and went away with the first prize in the meat raffle that is run at the Grapes, a £1 well spent. In 5th is Mr & Mrs R Taylor with another yearling cock and last prize goes to Roberts Bros with a 2 year old cock that won first place a couple of weeks ago.

Up at the club house on Saturday night some members were a few birds missing but I expect them to turn up on Saturday night or Sunday morning.
That?s it for now I have put a photo up of Somers Bros and Ian Vernon from Nottinghamshire.

The early bird result is as follows:-

1st Roberts Bros Vel 2113.186
2nd Mr & Mrs R Taylor Vel 2082.340
3rd M Denson & Son Vel 2078.091
4th Walley & Wilkinson Vel 2077.912
5th Mr & Mrs R Taylor Vel 2076.801
