BAILEY &  PROCTOR  TAKE  THE  FIRST  THREE  AT  PACKMOOR

Hello all.

Another good race from Tewksbury with the Staffordshire Moorlands Fed where at Packmoor 9 members sent 290 birds.  I was expecting a few more members and birds but with a couple of lofts not sending because the birds were not too well I reckon we did well.

One of the reasons for a good turnout of birds was the club members only ring race, where members paid a £1 per ring, max of 10 rings. The difference being the members paid their money a month ago but didn't nominate their birds till basketing night.  Well the members paid for 120 rings so the prize money for this race was £120 and we paid two prizes 1st prize £72 and 2nd £48.  It was just something different that the members seemed to like and with another £105 prize money that the club pay out for every race there was some good money to be won.

Onto the race, that was put back 24 hrs so it was basketing Saturday night for a Sunday race that turned out to be a good and fast race.  At 9-45 I got the call that the birds had been libbed at 9-30 in a South West wind and after all the members had been notified of the lib time I went to watch Dave Jones’ birds come.

Sunday night when checking the clock times and talking to the members it became clear that two lofts those of Mr & Mrs R Slack and Bailey & Proctor were too close to predict the winner, so we had to wait for Kath and Janet to feed all the info into the laptop.  The winner turned out to be Bailey & Proctor and talking to Pete Bailey he told me that as he was waiting for the birds he saw 6 birds coming up to Packmoor gardens. Well 3 birds peeled off for Bailey & Proctor but as he said he didn't have the best of trapping but when they did trap all 3 went in together to record the same velocity for all three and as one of the 3 was a nominated bird he won that as well.  In 4th place was Mr & Mrs R Slack and as their bird was a nominated bird as well he took 2 place in that race.  5th place goes to Andy Cliff and the 6th place was won by L Khan & Sons.
