Well I've finally got there that's every race event of 2024 now reported on before we shortly kick off 2025 reports it's been extremely busy working full time and dealing with all the Futurity sales breeder buyers create deliveries meetings winter shows your job as a secretary never ends well we've got there now the very last race of 2024 was the Alnwick classic this being the members SWELC classic race the Futurity final and IFC classic race so a lot to bite at for the challenge at a good 250 plus mile event the birds were liberated at 09.00am into a light west wind on the 13/9/24 the top twenty positions are as follows claiming 1st, 6th and 11th open was Trevor Cooke flying 244 miles his winner and second bird were both purchased at the new north road amalgamation Futurity YB sale and were bred by Matt Bentley & Jo Cuthbert of Nottingham and the third a home bred strain bird all were flown on the darkness system flying back to their perches with velocities of 1407, 1394 and 1321.

2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 9th,10th, 12th, 14th and 17th open flying 256 miles was Stuart Luff the first a Lambrechts x Ben Oakley bird the second a Rob Kerr of Gloucester crossed home strain bred bird the third an own based family strain the fourth a Jellema x own strain the fifth a G W & P Macaloney x Geoff Cooper the sixth a Hardy Kruger X Ben Oakley the seventh an own created based strain and the eighth a Jellema x own strain created and the nineth a Jellema of Dean Pallett lines all were flown on the darkness system flying back to Their perches with velocities of 4 x 1401, 2 x 1333, 1318, 1294 and 1249 a great performance at 256 miles with young birds I believe Stuart had 100% returns from the event fabulous flying Stuart!!

7th and 19th open was the Walker brothers flying 256 miles their first being bred by J & S Dangerfield of south Normanton Derbyshire and was purchased at the new north road amalgamation Futurity young bird sale and the next a new north road amalgamation young bird purchased and a previous winner that was bred by Luis Palocious Ribes of Yate both were sent on the darkness system paired up sitting nest eggs with velocities of 1349 and 1220.
J & S Dangerfield
8th open was Dave Smith flying 267 miles with a Soojen blue cock on the darkness system sitting nest eggs doing 1337.
13th and 20th open was Adrian Bishop flying 275 miles his first being bred by Sylwester Kaminski of Worksop and was purchased at the new north Road amalgamations Futurity sale and the next a Brian Olver of Bristol based bred bird with velocities of 1311 and 1182.

15th was Szmaglik & Humphries flying 269 miles with a Mr & Mrs Graham & Sue Watkins of Bristol bred Kees Boshua based bird purchased at the new north road amalgamation Futurity young bird sale with a velocity of 1279.
16th open was Chris Orchard flying 253 miles with a home bred own created strain bird doing 1269 and 18th open was Dave Tyrer flying 270 miles with a blue pied cock doing 1234.
Well that's all of 2024 finally done and what a fantastic race to finish it off with some exiting things for 2025 for the SWELC members with their grand open race from Lerwick on their own fellow SWELC member Smithy's one loft race working with the SWELC the new north road amalgamations Scottish races plus the grand final Futurity race from Alnwick the SWELC breeder buyer the Longford club open breeder buyer and the south Bristol club old bird and young bird show race finals so plenty to enjoy thanks to everyone who took time to take part in providing information to make the articles happen good luck everyone for 2025.
