Saturday June1st and the Burton & South Derbyshire Federation were at Yeovil with our convoyer Alys getting the pigeons away at 09-40 in a north north easterly wind.
This turned out to be a very testing time for the pigeons with big gaps between pigeons arriving home.
In Holbrook Miners Welfare Flying Club 9 members sent 129 birds with the in form loft of Kevin Matthews taking the top two positions doing 1273.7 & 1273.2 which were well clear of the field. In third doing 1249 was R.Cross with Mick Stone ( Glyn & Glenda ) in fourth doing 1236.

Osmaston Park Homing Society had 15 members sending 151 birds with Mr & Mrs P Todd ( Paul & Lynda ) taking the red card with a two year old cheq hen doing 1245. In second doing 1244.8 with a yearling blue cock was Mick Stone. Dave Waddington took the next two positions with a yearling dk/ch cock doing 1244.4 and a four year old dk/ch cock doing 1244.1.

In Etwall & District Flying Club 7 members sent 101 birds with A.Peach & Son having an excellent day making a clean sweep. Their winner was a yearling blue cock doing 1244 followed by a three year old cheq hen doing 1202 then a two year old blue cock doing 1186.7 followed by a yearling cheq hen doing 1186.6 to take fourth.

Saturday June 8th and the Burton & South Derbyshire Federation were at Weymouth and the pigeons were liberated at 12-15 in a North West wind.
In Osmaston Park Homing Society 14 members sent 130 birds with Dave Waddington returning to winning ways taking the first two positions with a yearling dk/ch cock doing 1349 getting the red card followed by a two year old blue cock doing 1343 taking second. In third was Mick Stone with a yearling cheq cock doing 1333 followed by Mr & Mrs P Todd in fourth with a three year old blue hen doing 1329.
9 members sent 159 birds in Holbrook Miners Welfare Flying Club and taking the red card doing 1334 were E & A Gibson followed by R.Cross in second doing 1332. 3 In third were Mick Stone ( Glyn & Glenda ) doing 1332.1 followed by F A Turner doing 1331 to take fourth.

In Etwall & District Flying Club 7 members sent 78 birds with Steve Billings getting the winner with a three year old cheq cock doing 1282 with his next pigeon doing 1263 to take third. In second was A Peach & Son with a seven year old blue hen doing 1278 with Pete & Shirley Harrison in fourth with a two year old blue cock doing 1260.

Saturday June 15th and the Burton & South Derbyshire Federation were at Weymouth for the second week in succession. With a lot of rain forecast it was a gamble weather the pigeons would be liberated or held over until Sunday. However our convoyer Alys decided to liberate at 12-15 and it turned out to be the right decision as it was an excellent race with the leading pigeons doing 55 mph. It was a good day for the in form lofts in each club taking the red cards.
In Holbrook Miners Welfare 5 members sent 68 birds and it was that man again Kevin Matthews taking the top two positions. His winner was doing 1606.8 followed by his second pigeon doing 1606.2.In third was D & A Swift & Son doing 1567.4 with Mr & Mrs K Salt in fourth doing 1561.
In Osmaston Park Homing Society 10 members sent 71 birds with Dave Waddington continuing to dominate with a hat trick of wins also making it his fourth 1st in eight races. Taking the red card was a yearling blue cock doing 1585 followed by a two year old cheq cock doing 1561 to take second. In third with a yearling cheq cock doing 1557 was Mick Stone followed by Jason & Karen Phillips in fourth with a red yearling cock doing 1552.
In Etwall & District Flying Club 6 members sent 82 birds with A.Peach & Son making a clean sweep taking the first six positions. Their winner was a yearling blue cock doing 1539 followed by a two year old ch/wf hen and a three year old blue cock both doing 1530 with a six year old cheq cock doing 1521 to take fourth. His next two pigeons were doing 1501 & 1497.
It was back to winning ways for Glyn & Glenda Stone in Holbrook Miners Welfare where 8 members sent 137 birds in their race from Hullavington on the 22-06-2024 with the Burton & South Derbyshire Federation. The pigeons were liberated at 10-20 in a westerly wind. Their winner was doing 1566 ypm followed by two more pigeons doing 1545 & 1544 to take third & fourth. In second doing 1565 was the ever present Kevin Matthews.

In third with a yearling cheq cock doing 1527 was S & H W Hall followed by Steve Stone in fourth with a dk cheq yearling hen doing 1515.

7 members sent 109 birds In Etwall & District Flying Club and continuing to dominate was A.Peach & Son with a two year old dk/wf cock doing 1508 followed by Peter & Shirley Harrison with a blue yearling cock doing 1480 both the first two pigeons were from the loft of Kevin Southall and were broken pigeons. Taking the next two positions with a four year old grizzle cock doing 1475 and a two year old blue hen doing 1471 was Steve Billings.
Holbrook Miners Welfare Flying Club had 8 members sending 116 birds with the Burton & South Derbyshire Federation for their race from Frome on Saturday 29-06-2024.
This turned out to be a two loft race with both the inform lofts taking all the spoils. Taking the red card doing 1622 also fourth doing 1609 was Kevin Matthews with Glyn & Glenda Stone in second & third with velocities of 1612 & 1611.

Etwall & District Flying Club had 7 members sending 108 birds and taking the red card with a yearling blue cock doing 1566 (which was a broken pigeon from the loft of Kevin Southall) was Peter & Shirley Harrison who also took third with a two year old blue cock doing 1553.In second & fourth was Steve Billings with a two year old blue cock doing 1564 and a four year old Grizzle cock doing 1549.

Saturday July 6th and The Burton & South Derbyshire Federation were at Yeovil and the weather forecast wasn't very good with a lot of rain about. There was no sign of an early liberation so patience was the order of the day. Our convoyer Alys managed to get the pigeons away at 14-50 which was an excellent decision as it turned out to be an excellent race even more so for Chadesden fancier Dave Waddington who flies in the Osmaston Park Homing Society where 16 members sent 165 birds With Dave Waddington making it a podium finish taking the top three positions. His winner was a yearling blue cock doing 1631 getting its second first prize of the year and getting the icing on the cake by topping The Burton & South Derbyshire Federation with an entry of 892 birds. His next two pigeons were two yearling cocks doing 1628 & 1622.In fourth was Mick Fearn with a three year old blue hen doing 1601.
In Holbrook 5 members sent 118 birds with Russ Bailey making it a clean sweep with his first four pigeons all timed in, in less than a minute taking the first four positions with velocities of 1616.8,1616.5,1616.5 & 1616.2.

In Etwall & District Flying Club 6 members sent 84 birds with A.Peach & Son making a clean sweep. His winner was a four year old blue cock doing 1535 followed by a two year old cheq hen doing 1533 then a three year old blue hen doing 1527 with a yearling blue cock doing 1524 to take fourth.
Saturday July 13th and the Burton & South Derbyshire Federation were at Weymouth for their final old bird race of the season. Our convoyer Alys got the pigeons away at 11-05-00 in a south south west wind.
In Holbrook Miners Welfare Flying Club 8 members sent 112 birds with D & A Swift & Son taking the top two positions doing 1400 & 1398.Following up taking the next two positions was Russ Bailey doing 1396 & 1395.

His winner was a four year old dk cheq cock doing 1393 followed by a yearling cheq cock doing 1380.1, then a two year old cheq cock doing 1380.0.In fourth was the Little Eaton loft of S & H W Hall with a yearling cheq cock doing 1375.
