Derby Notes.

Sunday November 17th and it was the opening show for the Osmaston Park Homing Society with four classes consisting of -: 

Old Cocks, Old Hens, Young Hens & Any Colour Young Cock all through the wires.

The show was very well supported once again so it must be a big thank you to the show committee and all who supported the event .The two judges for this show were Darren Hadfield & his good friend Lyndon Moat who done an excellent job  ( Thank You Both ).All four classes were of the usual high standard once again.

Winner of the any colour young cock class went to Mick Willis & Family who also took Reserve with their winner also taking best in show. Taking second & Very Highly Commended was Stewart Wainwright with Hall & Torry taking 3rd.Taking fourth, Very Highly Commended & Commended was club secretary Steve Stone.

In the Old Cocks Class Mick Willis & Family took the red card also fourth, Very Highly Commended & Highly Commended & Commended. Alan & Liz Houldsworth took second with Steve Stone taking third and Chris Gilliver taking reserve.

The Old Hens class winners were Alan & Liz Houldsworth who also took Commended. Taking second & Highly Commended was Dave Waddington with Shenton Brothers ( Ron & Norman ) taking third. Taking fourth was Steve Stone with Chris Gilliver taking reserve. Taking Very Highly Commended was Mick Stone.

In the Young Hens Class Chris Gilliver took the red card with Mick Willis & Family taking second & third. Taking Fourth were Alan & Liz Houldsworth with Dave Waddington taking Reserve & Very Highly Commended. John Inger took Highly Commended with Shenton Brothers Ron & Norman taking Commended.

Sunday November 24th was the date for the second show for the Osmaston Park Homing Society.

There were once again four classes consisting of Young Cocks, Young Hens, Old Cocks & Any Coloured Old Hen.

The show was well supported once again with a total of 119 entries. The judges for this one were Dave Stone and his son Dathan. All the pigeons were in excellent condition with the judges having a task on their hands finding the prize winners.

Taking the red card in the Old Cocks Class also getting best in show were Alan & Liz Houldsworth. Their show winner was bred by Kevin Southall. Taking Second, Third & Highly Commended was Mick Willis & Family. Fourth & Reserve went to Hall & Torry with Stewart Wainwright taking Very Highly Commended and Steve Stone taking Commended.

Sunday December 8th was the final show for the Osmaston Park Homing Society with four classes consisting of Old Cocks, Old Hens, Young Cocks, & Young Hens. The winners of each class throughout the shows will be entered into the Champion of Champions class to find the Supreme Champion.

The entries once again were of excellent quality and were a credit to the respective fanciers. There were a total of 120 birds entered in the four classes. The two judges for the four classes were Clive Herrott and his friend Tony Mather.

Taking the red card in the Old Cocks class also best in show plus third, fourth & Highly Commended was Mick Willis & Family. In Second was Alan & Liz Houldsworth with Mick Stone taking Reserve, Very Highly Commended & Commended.

In the Old Hens Class it was that man again Mick Willis taking five of the eight prizes. Taking the red card plus Second, Third, Highly Commended & Commended. In fourth was Steve Stone with Alan & Liz Houldsworth taking Reserve and Stewart Wainwright taking Very Highly Commended.

In the Young Cocks class getting the red card was Hall & Torry. Taking Second , Third and Highly Commended were Alan & Liz Houldsworth. Steve Stone took fourth with Mick Stone taking Reserve & Very Highly Commended and Mick Willis taking Commended.

In the Young Hens class Mick Stone took the red card with Mick Willis & Family taking Second, Third & Fourth. Reserve went to Hall & Torry with Paul Adams taking Very Highly Commended. Highly Commended went to Steve Stone with Commended going to Stewart Wainwright.

Mark Williamson was the judge for the Champion of Champions class and nearly making it a clean sweep was Mick Willis & Family who took the red card to earn the title of Supreme Champion, plus Second, Third, Fourth, Reserve, Very Highly Commended & Commended. In third was Mick Stone with Alan & Liz Houldsworth taking Very Highly Commended.

The shows once again were a huge success thanks to the hard work of the show organisers George Torry, Molly Torry, Mick Willis & Steve Lambert.

The shows main sponsor was once again Garry Fletcher who donated £100 prize money to the Champion of Champions class plus £50 towards the prize money of the twelve classes over the three weeks. Garry also donated a small amount after the final total was announced to round it up to £500.Everyone who took part would like to say a big thank you Garry. Other sponsors were Hall & Torry, Steve Stone, Scott Willis, Steve Lambert, Dave Willis and Clive Herrott.
