Saturday June 1st and the Derby Burton & District South Road Federation were at Carentan for the first of their federation special races. The pigeons were liberated at 08-35 in a light east south east wind. In Kilburn club five members sent 45 birds and getting the winner with a yearling blue cock doing 1610 was Keith Cresswell. Second & fourth went to K. Foulkes with a yearling b/w/f cock doing 1595 and a two-year-old red cock doing 1588.In third with a two-year-old blue hen doing 1594 was L. Hall & Parkin.

The Burton & South Derbyshire Federation were at Kingsdown and the pigeons were liberated at 10-00 in a light south east wind. In Osmaston Park Homing Society nineteen members sent 190 birds with Mick Willis & Family getting the winner with a four-year-old b/w/f hen doing 1777 which was well out in front of the rest of the field. In second was Mick Fearn with a three-year-old cheq hen doing 1725, followed by Dave Waddington in third & fourth with a two-year-old cheq cock doing 1718 and a yearling mealy cock doing 1711.

In Etwall & District Flying Club twelve members sent 181 birds with A.Peach & Son coming out on top also taking third. Their winner was a two year old blue hen doing 1713 which was purchased from Mr & Mrs A.J Whitehurst at the club breeder buyer sale 2017, followed by a three year old pied hen doing 1703.In second & fourth was last week’s winners Alan & Liz Houldsworth with a two, two year old blue cocks doing 1712 (last week’s winner) and 1693.

In Holbrook eight members sent 135 birds with T. Jennings taking three of the first four positions. His winner was a yearling cheq hen doing 1711 followed by a two year old red hen doing 1700 and a yearling ch/pied hen doing 1695.In second was last week’s winners B & S Stone with a four year old blue hen doing 1705.
