Both the Burton & South Derbyshire Federation and the Derby Burton & District South Road Federation had their opening races for the 2019 season on Saturday 20th April.
The Burton & South Derbyshire South Federation were at Tewkesbury and got theirs away at 10-00 with blue skies and plenty of sunshine with a light south east wind given. Opening his account for the season and taking the red card in Osmaston Park Homing Society ( which had a record entry with eighteen members sending 379 birds ) was Mick Stone with a two year old dark cheq cock doing 1415.Taking second & third positions was the man & wife partnership of Paul & Lynda Todd. Their first pigeon was a yearling cheq pied hen doing 1411 followed by a two year old cheq cock doing 1408.8.With Dave Waddington taking fourth with a yearling cheq cock doing 1408.2.

Holbrook Flying Club ( a new club to the Burton & South Derbyshire Federation ) had seven members sending 166 birds with the first two positions going to Trevor Jennings with a yearling cheq hen taking the red card doing 1395 followed by a two year old red hen doing 1390.In third position was Brian & Sue Stone with a three year old cheq hen doing 1379.7,with Kevin Mathews in fourth with a two year old cheq w/f cock doing 1379.6.
In Etwall & District Flying Club thirteen members sent 213 birds with Neil Crofts taking top spot with a four year old blue cock doing 1365 followed by A.Peach & Son taking the next three positions with his first pigeon a three year old cheq cock doing 1352 followed by a three year old b/w/f hen doing 1351 then a yearling slatey cock doing 1346.

Kilburn Flying Club had four members sending 55 birds and were at Upper Heyford with the Derby Burton & District South Road Federation. The pigeons were liberated at 08-40 in blue skies & sunshine in a light north, north east wind. Getting the winner with a yearling pied cock doing 1311 was the partnership of Hall & Parkin. In second & third positions with a blue cock doing 1304 & a blue pied cock doing 1301both yearlings was R.Parkin & Hall with Stuart Wainwright in fourth with a four year old blue hen doing 1289.
