Saturday July 21st and the Derby Burton & District South Road Federation started their young bird programme with the first race from Windrush with the pigeons being liberated at 08-30 in a light north east wind. First & second fed went B & J Broughton Bros & Geelan of Park with a cheq pied hen doing 1328.6 followed by a blue cock doing 1328.2.Third & fourth fed went to Selston member D.Hadfield with a mealy hen doing 1324.2 followed by a blue pied hen doing 1323.3.Park members J.Broughton & Son were fifth doing 1319.8 with a blue cock.In sixth & seventh were Poolsbrook members Mr & Mrs Cox & Sons & Vardy doing 1315.7 with a dark cock followed by a blue cock doing 1315.1.In Eighth & ninth went to Ralph Jepson Selston with a blue cock doing 1312.5 and a cheq hen doing 1312,3 with Selston member C.Davey in tenth doing 1311.9.
