Silver Ghost Flying Club Presentation 2014
Friday December 19th saw Derby's new club the the Silver Ghost Flying Club holding its first prize presentation evening at their headquarters The Silver Ghost public house Alvaston. Presenting the prizes and guest of honour for the evening was Tony Whitehurst.
Just before the proceedings started club president Reuben Hough gave a short speech welcoming everyone and thanking secretary Jason Phillips along with all the members & officials for their hard work they have put in over the 2014 season.

First up to the table after having a fantastic season with 212 points was Reuben Hough winning 12x1sts, 11x2nds, 12x3rds, 5x4ths, 9x5ths & 4x6ths, inland old bird average, young bird average, combine average, longest young bird race, highest winning velocity, ladies race, gold ring race, and to add to a fine haul of trophies bird of the year and member of the year and total winnings of £524.64.
Runner up with 76 points winning 3x1sts, 3x2nds, 3x3rds, 6x4ths, 4x5ths & 5x6ths with total winnings of £236.92 was Tom Chadwick.
Brian Dyjas came next with 59 points winning 2x1sts, 2x2nds, 4x3rds, 4x4ths, 3x5ths & 3x6ths and total winnings £106.33.
Next with 50 points was Woolley & Rogers with 2x1sts, 3x2nds, 1x3rd, 3x4ths, 2x5ths & 6x6ths and total winnings of £48.20.
Ernie Barker came next with 22 points winning 1x1st, 1x3rd, 3x4ths, 1x5th & 1x6th winning Messac cup, Channel old bird average, lowest winning velocity and total winnings of £17.47.
Also with 22 points was Fred Stevenson winning 1x1st ,2x2nds, 1x3rd & 1x5th and total winnings of £72.77.
Terry Budd came next with 17 points winning 1x1st, 1x2nd, 1x4th, 1x5th & 1x6th winning Carentan cup and total winnings of £23.
Next with 12 points was new comer Alan Beastall winning 1x2nd, 1x3rd, 1x5th & 1x6th getting best newcomer of the year award and total winnings of £53.
Mick Willis & Family were next with 12 points winning 1x1st, 1x4th, 1x5th & 1x6th with total winnings of £51.
Finally it was the turn of Mr & Mrs Jason Phillips with total winnings of £38 from the gold ring race.
After the presentation was over there was a special presentation to Chloe Chadwick who was awarded helper of the year award.
Then there was an auction of 18 pigeons which raised £300 which gives the club a good start for 2015.
All the members would like to thank Jason ( the secretary ) for all the hard work he has put in over their first year to get the new club of the ground. Also the landlord who put on an excellent buffett for the presentation evening and finally Tony Whitehurst for presenting the prizes.
Total pay out in their first season was £1,171.33.
