Osmaston Park Homing Society Shows 2014

Osmaston Park Homing Society Homing Society recently held a series of shows at their club headquarters The Meadows. They started on November 9th with their first show of two classes which was eye sign & young cocks. The two judges were Roy Gregory (young cocks) and Phill Wright (eye sign). In the eye sign class Mick Willis & Family took the first four positions also B.I.S. In the young cocks class Yule & Inger took 1st, 3rd & 4th positions with Jason Phillips taking second.


The second show which was held on November 16th was old cocks and old hens. The judge for this one was yours truly (Alan Houldsworth). In the old cocks' class Mick Willis & Family did the double by taking the red card and getting best in show. Second & third positions went to Jason Phillips with Yule & Inger taking fourth. Winner in the old hens' class was brother Dave Willis getting best opposite sex with Yule & Inger taking the next three.


November 23rd and it was young cocks & young hens and the judge for this one was Monty Buxton.
Winner of the young hens' class and getting best in show was Yule & Inger with Mick Stone taking second followed by Yule & Inger in third with Jake Harcup in fourth. In the young cocks' class Mick Stone took first also best opposite sex with Dave Willis in second with Yule & Inger in third and Jason Phillips in fourth.


November 30th and it was old cocks & young cocks and the judge was John Dowd. Winner of the old cocks and best in show was Jason Phillips with Mick Willis & Family taking the next three positions. In the young cocks' class Dave Willis got the red card also third position. In second place was Yule & Inger with Jake Harcup taking fourth.

Sunday December 7th and it was old hens & young hens the judge for this one was Darren Johnson. In the old hens class Dave Willis took the first two positions also getting best in show. In third position was Jason Phillips with fourth position going to Steve Stone. In the young hens class it was a first & third for Yule & Inger with second position going to Mick Stone and fourth position going to Dave Willis.


Sunday December 14th and it was any age cocks and the judge for this one was Colin Nicholson. This was followed up by all the class winners showing for Supreme Champion. In the any age cocks class it was a clean sweep for Yule & Inger taking the first four positions then it was on to the all class winners to find the supreme champion. The judges for this one were five of the show judges, Monty Buxton, Darren Johnson, Phil Wright, Colin Nicholson & Alan Houldsworth and it was a difficult class to judge as the pigeons were in excellent condition. The Supreme Champion was awarded to Mick Willis & Family with Yule & Inger in second followed by Dave Wilis in third with Jason Phillips in fourth.


All the shows were through the wires with exception of the eye sign. The shows were a tremendous success through the hard work which was put in by the show committee of John Inger Mark Yule & Mick Willis with over £600 generated and this to be flown for over six races three old bird races & three young bird races. The show committee would like to thank all the sponsors also the people who supported the shows and all the judges. With the attitude and commitment of members like this this club can only go from strength to strength.
