My early career in pigeons involved years of research, practical testing and trial and error with methods, systems, feeding, supplements, racing and breeding. From collective knowledge which is out there in the media, in conjunction with my own insights and creativity, we can now produce a well-bred pigeon in good condition for the Barcelona International marathon. It has been a huge task to achieve reasonable targets, and is one we replicate with confidence. Our results now depend on the total race conditions in relation to the innate performance potential of each bird. Experiments are the nucleus of good science, although pigeon racing is as much applied intuition and art - a very human activity, as the birds are so dependent on man for many needs. A nice early bird for us is always a good one as it has demonstrated that it is in practical RACE REALITY - a test that proves or disproves all preconceived dreams, ideas and theories about the qualities of a good one. The objective is to test our ideas in the cauldron of race experience, which smacks of truth to me, although dreams maketh man. Innovations and new goals are realised in the spirit of adventure!
