NORTH LIVERPOOL FEDERATION
Hello Folks,
The North Liverpool Federation held its longest race of the season on Saturday 1st July from Guernsey in conjunction with the North West Combine. The total convoy of 1596 birds were liberated at 10.30am into a fresh west wind, of which 680 were racing on back to our federation members.
The report from the convoyer was that upon release the pigeons headed straight north into the sea with a small number of around 100 hanging back but were soon to follow their lead. Pigeon fanciers who were spectating commented that they had never seen pigeons clear the island as well as they did.
Five hours and 52 minutes later and this week’s provisional federation winner was clocked in the Kirkdale WMHS (5/44) to the lofts of Johnson Bros & Pattison. Their winner is a 2 year old cheq cock which has already has previous form winning 1st club 5th fed as well as other minor prizes. His sire is a Jos Cools cock bred by Steven Foster whilst the dam is a Maurits Hasendonckx also bred by Steven. Mr & Mrs Muirhead & Son clock a brace of pigeons to take 2nd & 3rd positions, first in the clock is a son of ‘75’ who is a fed winning son of their number one pair when paired to the Liverpool Classic Club hen. Next it was the ‘Porter Cock’ who was 2nd club 5th fed last week from Weymouth, he is a very consistent pigeon having previously also won 5th, 17th, 18th, 19th and 32nd fed. 4th club – John Jones – No Details.
Provisional 1st Federation - Johnson Bros & Pattison
J Devine & Son continue their impressive season over at the Princes Park HS (7/77) where they take 1st & 3rd places. Their winner is a 2 year old blue hen bred from his own family of birds, she’s a half-sister to the cock that won two weeks ago. Their next timer is a 2 year old widowhood mealy cock bred from Thomas Miller’s ‘Brokentoe’ family, Brokentoe being a winner of 9x2nd clubs BBLM on five occasions. 2nd club goes to Team Heague who clock a 3 year old homebred cheq widowhood cock via Frank Bristow blood, he is a previous winner including 2nd federation. 4th club – T Dobbs – No Details.
1st Princes Park HS - J Devine & Son
Over at the Garston HS (8/68) Dave Cain takes 1st & 3rd prizes. In 1st is a Cattrice via Colin Lloyd followed by a Louella based pigeon via Ian Axe. 2nd place – C Pendleton – No Details. 4th club – Chris Jones – No Details.
John Farley backs last week’s win up with another over at the Central FC (9/103) making it two wins on the bounce, this time with a yearling widowhood cock via his own family of heinze57’s. Terry Hodson is this week’s Bridesmaid clocking a yearling cheq hen to take 2nd spot. This hen is bred by Anthony Colburn via Wall, Lunt & Green’s ‘Box 9 pair’ x R&D Hunt blood. 3rd & 4th goes to Rees Bros & Caples with a blue hen who’s sire is a son of ‘Bratt’ x ‘Syrah’ (full brother Kittel x Daughter Kittel) via Marcel Sangers whilst the dam is a daughter of ‘New Young Kittel’ bred by John Angwin. 4 youngsters were bred form this pair in 2021 which have all won or performed well. Next in the clock for the lads is a yearling blue wf cock who’s sire is a son of ‘Daniel’ via PIPA Breeding when paired to a daughter of ‘Gold Dust’. Well Done All!
Next to report is the Vauxhall HS (6/81) were Rees Bros & Caples take the top spot with a full sister to the hen that was 3rd club Central HS via ‘Bratt’ ‘Syrah’ & ‘New Young Kittel’ lines. It was hard lines for McDowell & Son who clocked three pigeons to take 2nd, 3rd & 4th club. Their first timer is a yearling blue cock bought from the Liverpool Two Bird Sale bred by Jimmy Smith – Kirby. His sire is a Leo Heremans whilst the dam is a granddaughter of Leech Brothers ‘Syndicate cock’. This cocks nest mate was 2nd club last week BBLM. Next up is a yearling Cheq Van Den Bulk cock bred by John Doolan – Croxteth HS and finally it was a 2 year old hen, a gift bird from Rees Bros & Caples and is a daughter of the ‘Bolton Cock’.
Maria Warren reports that Eddie Naylor & Son take 1st & 2nd in the Bootle HS (5/57) – no details. 3rd was Mr & Mrs Hodgkinson with one of their home bred pigeons and Mr & Mrs Warren & D Foat & Son take 4th spot with one of their ever consistent Willy Jacob pigeons.
Kenny Simpson & Son take the win over at the Pirrie FC (7/90) this week as well as 4th position too. The winner is a Van Lint x Alwin Petrie based hen and she is a granddaughter of a 1st Liverpool Amal winner from Ancensis. Their second arrival was an Alwin Petrie x Patrick Boecks based pigeon. Jimmy Foley clocks two arrivals to take 2nd & 3rd, first in the clock is a 4 year old mealy cock that is a previous winner as well as having other minor cards under his belt and he was bred by Mick & Adam Ohara. Next up was a 3 year old Busschaert cock that has taken minor prizes. Well done all.
Over at the Netherton HS (8/91) McCardle, Archbold & Maguire clocked two pigeons to take 1st & 3rd. Their first timer is a yearling widowhood Mandelaertz x Walter Docx cock whose sire is a winner 1st club 3rd fed whilst the dam a winner of 1st club 2nd fed. Next the lads clocked a Heremans Ceusters bred by Lee & John Maguire from two 1st prize winners. Two prime examples that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, well done lads. John Southwood was 2nd & 4th club this week clocking two full brothers from this Vic Goovaerts pigeons of Beerzel – Belgium. Thanks Bri!
The prizes were spread around in the Edge Hill HS (3/23) this week. In 1st place once again is Mr & Mrs Moffitt clocking a 2 year old cheq cock raced on the roundabout system. This cock won three weeks ago and has other cards this season. Two brothers to this cock are also winners this campaign and they are bred out of the main stock birds, Van Loons originating from Planet Brothers. Mick Fox clocked two birds to take 2nd & 4th prizes. First in the clock was of Dordin x Paddy Frazer origin followed by another Dordin bred by Eric Southern. Dave Cain finishes 3rd with a two year old cock through Dennis Gerrard stock.
Our last port of call this week is the Litherland HS (4/46) were Joe Pearman takes the win with a very consistent cock which is now a winner of two first prizes as well as 15th, 21st, 22nd, 28th and 32nd Federation. His sire is a grizzle cock bred by club mates Freddie Lloyd & Ashley Healey through the two old families. He is a grandson of the old Lambrecht’s couple parents to a federation winner and also the old Williem couple breeders of a good amount of winners. Dam is via G.W&P Macaloney pigeons. Ted Davin & Son finish 2nd with a yearling cock which has been consistent all season. His sire is a son of ‘Big Kev’ bred by Kevin Moran whilst his dam has won 6x1st prizes as well as 1st fed, 2nd North West Combine. This hen is a Huybrecht from Flemming Bros – Crumlin crossed into Steve Goulding’s Van Loons. Freddie Lloyd & Ashley Healey take 3rd and 4th with a bird bred by Ben & John Scott – Birmingham followed by a blue cock a winner of 2x1st clubs and 2x4th Federations. He is bred from a grandson of ‘Oh So Sharp’ a Van Loon whilst the dam is a direct daughter of their foundation pair ‘Blue Boy’ a grandson of ‘Euro’ & ‘Robina’ bred from the very best of the Heremans Ceusters family. This pair are responsible for fourteen top positions in the top fifteen of the federation up to 2195 birds.
