Lanarkshire Federation - Wooler Race - 1st July
The federation returned to Nort East of England for the last comeback race of the old bird season. Otterburn is around 77 miles back to lower central Scotland for this week’s winner. The initial race point was switched due to poor weather at race point.
The convoy of 1,100 were away at 10 45 in a fresh west wind. This was a head wind for the pigeons and the wind was very fresh.
The winning pigeon took 2hrs for a velocity of 1135.933,with the second being 1135.870 and third being 1135.461,closer than two coats of paint.
1st,3rd Open was the brilliant GWP Macaloney partnership who had five birds in top fourteen of Open federation. Outstanding flying considering they only sent 9.They had 8 in top 52 of Open.
Their federation winner called "Legend of Caviar "is a 3yr old blue hen that already had a brilliant racing career which know include 1st,4th,0th,11th(west region National),16th,29th,29th,30th,35th,44th,90th96th Open federation.
Truly stunning performance .
Well done again to the partnership.
The race itself turned out to be lowest velocity race of the season but with the very strong winds it appeared to keep the falcons of their backs with excellent returns and more regularity in the pigeons flight.
