Lanarkshire News - Alnwick 2

This week we return to the North East of England from Alnwick ,the weather was very similar to previous weeks race from Alnwick, south west wind with generally cloudy conditions at the home end.

The birds appeared to fly through some showers as they were damp on return.

Anyway the 2,000 Lanarkshire birds and 11 other crates were away at 07 30 in a light south west wind .

The winner hit the boards at 09 45 for the 92 miles ,recording a winning velocity of 1206ypm.

This week’s winner is the ultra-consistent loft of father and son partnership of Bobby and Sean Peden of Airdrie club.

This loft has been outstanding in the young bird season sitting top of the average chart recording top % results every week of the season.

I phoned Bobby to congratulate them on their 1st sect ,1st Open federation and get some information on their winner.

Their winner a cheq C pigeon is from Brian & Karen Hawes, "Charmbrook Lofts" This loft is famous for its brilliant team of Leo Van Rijn pigeons.

Bobby said they purchased stock a couple of years ago and the offspring from these have been to the fore every week.

The partnership only recently returned to the sport and with their past knowledge of the sport I think will make a great impact in the future.

The youngsters were raced on the natural system and timed into the traditional T3 clock, which Bobby says is a detriment to the birds trapping, the winner wasting around one minute as they quickly understand that they will be caught when entering loft.

Motion is in place to have ETS fitted over the winter months.

The birds are road trained twice per week from the south around 20-30 miles .Due to work commitments this can change.

Well done to Bobby and Sean on their fine winner and top racing season.

Team performances of the week

Tam Richardson of Newmains had a remarkable team performance recording the top 10 positions in club and seventeen in top 20 of his club. Recording 3rd,4th,5th,6th,7th,8th,9th,10th,11th,12th,13th,14th,15th Centre section.

Newmains had 467 birds at the race. and 990 birds in section.

Brilliant flying by Tam !

James & Gary green had another top team performance recording 4th,11th,12th,13th,15th West section.
