Lanarkshire News - Chryston Presentation Night - 24-02-25

Lanarkshire News - Chryston Presentation Night.

On the 7th of February, Chryston Racing Pigeon Club held its first presentation in several years at Auchengeich Miners Club which is near the pigeon club.

The event kicked off at 7:30 PM, with a great turnout of members and friends. Club President Billy Holland ensured the evening was a success, organizing a first-class buffet and presenting medals to all race winners.

The night also featured a fantastic raffle, with top-quality prizes generously donated by club members and supporters.

The main prize winners of the night were Paul and Erin Conroy, presented with the old bird and combine averages by the president’s wife Anne, the fanciers enjoyed an outstanding season with their racing pigeons. Karl Kelly and Stewart Young also had a very strong season, securing the Club and Federation Young Bird Average titles which again highlights the competition in this forward moving club. Another loft that had a great year was Cathy Grant winning 3 races and being there or there abouts most weeks.

Billy also acknowledged the achievements of members in the Scottish National races, including John Hood, himself, and a special mention to Andrew McBurnie, who won the Scottish National Flying Club section from Kettering and also 1st bird from SNFC gold cup. One of the clubs’ hardest workers Mark Gilchrist was next up for his medals with a highlight of winning the last young bird race which was a tough yin! All other fanciers received their prize cards, and after some laughs and a few drinks, the raffle took place with the very capable Ann and Kate selling the tickets which rounded off an enjoyable evening. The atmosphere was filled with great camaraderie, and it’s hoped that this event marks the beginning of many more to come. A big well done to team Chryston. Billy Holland, Club President, expressed his gratitude to everyone who attended, making it a night to remember.

Thanks to John Hood for the report.
