Lanarkshire news-Clarkston club Presentation night
Members and friends got together to celebrate season 2024 prize winners in the local Clarkston Bowling club on Saturday 22nd February.
This year our club sponsors Steven Whitelaw of (Alexander Whitelaw & Co, Funeral Directors) attended with his work partner and her son to present the winners.
The night got underway with club secretary Charlie Muir organising the trophy winners to come up and receive the accolades for their seasons hard work.
Thereafter it was over to Jim McGuire top vocalist \ entertainer to get the night going with a selection of his favourite songs to entertain us.
Jim and Walter Boswell have been great friends to the club over a number of years and again supported the members with their attendance.
Jim initially song a few songs before others got the “Dutch courage “ to have a go at the karaoke.
The night flowed extremely well ,with a lovely buffet made available ,the evening quickly turned into the early hours with everyone having a great night.
I personally feel the club has took the right step by having its presentation night to maintain its identity as a progressive pigeon club.
2024 Prize winners
This year’s star loft was Lewis McCalley who had an outstanding season at club and federation level winning 4 x 1st Open federations including the club old bird Average ,first four race Average and the Danny Mitchell Memorial Trophy for most points in the season.
Brilliant flying for one of the most talented fanciers ,well done "King Louis"
I think he even picked up a discount on his funeral plan from the sponsor "haha”.
Tom Corrie Son G/son winners of Young Bird Average and J Whitelaw trophy for nominations.
John and Amanda Ferguson winners of novice trophy, a very popular couple who have only recently joined the sport and I’m sure will climb up the leader board in near future.
The nomination prizes were presented with some healthy cash prizes that will help buy a few bags of feed.
Other prizes won were Alec Stewart won the Longest Inland race ,Dave Love won the yearling trophy, unfortunately both were unable to attend but their achievements were recognised.
Combine Average Trophy wasn't won this season.
Thanks to Clarkston Bowling club for the use of their lovely premisses and hopefully it will be an annual event.
As stated earlier we are very grateful to Steven Whitelaw and family for their continued support and sponsorship and Jim for a superb night of entertainment that made it a night to remember.
Thanks to Charlie and the committee for their continued hard work to the membership.
