Lanarkshire Fed Ripon Open Pool Race.
This week takes us to Ripon in North Yorkshire, around 155 miles back into central Scotland. The 600 birds plus 2 Fauldhouse club baskets birds were liberated at 10 15 hrs in a light north wind in bright sunshine. The winning velocities in the high 1100s which is always a good steady racing velocity.
The later liberation in my opinion is always a good judgement at this time of the year, as it is cold early morning. Reports that a good racing day was enjoyed with fanciers having 2/3 of their teams’ home on the shift. This week’s winning pigeon was timed after 3hrs 53m to Jim Cameron of View park, Uddingston
.
