Lanarkshire Fed Kettering 27-06-19

LANARKSHIRE FEDERATION

Tom Corrie jnr

This week we arrive at Kettering a town in Northamptonshire, England, about 70 miles north of London. The distance is around 274 miles to this week?s winning loft. The convoy of 1275 plus 6 Fauldhoue club baskets were away at 08 30 am in lovely sunny weather for the trip back up to central Scotland.
The winner took around 5hrs 20 minutes with a velocity high in the 1400s.

George Baird (R) wins this weeks 1st Open Lanarkshire Federation Kettering race

George Bairds Kettering Open winner Olivia

This week?s winner is George Baird of Greenfield club. The winning pigeon now named Olivia after his daughter was bred by Alistair MacLean from Oban. Ally has bred George many good pigeons over the last few years. He has great bloodlines.

Olivia has now 2 x 1st clubs to her name with her first win coming from Catterick yb race 2018.

She was raced total widowhood at the start of the season then paired a few nights before Buckingham with the SNFC. as you know it turned but a difficult race for many with Olivia returning a day late.... She was well down on body and must have flown many miles. George allowed her to go down on eggs and left well alone no forced exercise at all, with feed in front 24/7, she came back about herself and got the Kelso training race the week before being sent to Kettering.

Kettering has been a good race point for George after winning the section before. He is just glad to have finally topped the fed to tick that box after topping the section 8 times and hitting the cross bar being 2nd Open it's great to have finally done it.

George races his pigeons to the compound in Blantyre, a real hub of activity, as there is a number of lofts attached in very close proximity. George can dig out some great wins and has had a lot of success in a very short time in the sport. I have already covered a loft report on George a few years ago as he was winning out of turn in the west section of the federation. He has recently won SHU bird of the year, so you get the picture he is an excellent fancier. Well done George on a top performance.
