Lanarkshire Federation -Charnock Richard

Charnock Richard is a small village and civil parish in the borough of Chorley, Lancashire, in England. The manor house Park Hall dates from the 10th century. It was the home of Henry de Lea, who was beheaded with Adam Banastre on Leyland Moor in 1315 after the abortive Banastre Rebellion
Charnock Richard services is probably the area's most famous landmark, is a motorway service station, between junctions 27 and 28 of the M6 motorway. It was the first service station on the M6 motorway when it opened in 1963 and is operated by Welcome Break.

This weeks smaller convoy of 4,500 birds were liberated at 9am in a south west wind, which always spells a fast race
The winners recorded into the high 1500s for the 160 miles flight which was around the three hours mark.
At the home end it was perfect racing conditions, bright sunshine with small puffy cloud cover.
But again the racing was erratic with many birds late or not returning.
Like every other race the yearlings are struggling to get to the front, which tells you they are not happy with their line of flight.

When we are voting for racing programme I feel we should be sticking to the same route for at least four years, as this chopping and changing is not helping the birds.
The small team fancier cannot sustain the losses to see the programme through, many reporting up to half their teams already lost.
Financially this isnt good for the federation.

This weeks Open federation winner is Dave Burnside of Lanark & Dist,out in the south of the federation. For those who follow results, the only surprise is that Dave hadn't achieved this honour.
Dave last season I think won 14 from 15 club wins and won a stack of federation tickets throughout the season. I also think he has won every race this season, often taking the first four places.
His winner is two year old check cock that races on the traditional roundabout system and his fed on the best of Versela laga mixtures.
The birds are flown around the loft twice daily and fly well.
It breeding is from the old Wildermeersch (Not to sure of spelling) lines originating from a fancier in Wales. He breeds from past winners that enter the stock loft .
Birds are fed on the floor and he cleans out twice per day.
