Sedgefield race Lanarkshire Federation

A whopping 7,550 birds lined up for this weeks race, after a one day delay the birds were away at 11 30 am in a light east wind.
The winners romped home in the high 1700s but as usual with an east wind the yearlings took a real" dooing"
With some lofts taking a significant dent in their teams, I don't think we will be up in this birdage again next week.
East is no good to man or beast and again it proves that birds try and avoid it.
This weeks federation winner was a close run thing with Alan Nelson of Low Waters in Hamilton and Dave Burnside of Lanark club on the same velocity but with the smallest of margins it goes to Alan Nelson. I had the pleasure to meet Alan at the Blantyre social night which we were guests on the panel.
Alan birds are flown on the natural system with regular short training flights throughout the week, if my memory is correct. Well done Alan possible winning the birdage race of the old bird programme.
Dave Burnside has had a cracking start to the season and will be wishing the bird moved that bit quicker through the trap.
