Blantyre HC, Presentation Night

Friday 26th February was the date for Blantyre HC night, like every year we have attended this has always been a great wee night out for the pigeon fanciers.This year members and friends of the club came out in their numbers to support the club and having a great night of social activity.

I was asked to sit on the panel with fellow fanciers Billy Gordon of Cambuslang, Alan Nelson of Low Waters and Dave Jamieson of East Calder to answer the questions from those attending. I thought the conduct was excellent throughout the night and with lads from Ayrshire and Glasgow also present, there was a good variety of aspects of the sport discussed.

Again there were some real nuggets of advice for those that attended. The panel responded well to the questions with some unique systems of their management shared.

The club trophies presented initially with club champion loft of Tallis & McDonagh winning the lions share of the trophies, well done to Big Tommy who was there to collect his silver wear and Alec McInnes also up receiving a number of the club prizes.

Tallis & McDonagh have tremendous record of winning federation tickets into the west section of the federation often winning multiple prizes.

Club secretary Jim Wylie and President Wullie Semple done a cracking job for their members and made it a very enjoyable night.

Between the questions to the panel, the Breeder /Buyer sale was undertaken with around thirty youngsters auctioned on the night. This will make good prize money for this years best performance bird for the coming season. Last year was won by Alan Nelson who walked away with £600 for his prize. So everyone who purchased a youngster has hope of a healthy fund.

The buffet was again very tasty and with plenty of variety and all for a fiver.
