LANARKSHIRE FEDERATION
Lanarkshire News
Blackpool show this year again was a great spectacle for the sport, the governing body should be complimented for their efficiency and organisation. It was a pleasure to walk around, enjoying the buzz around the stalls, meeting up and having a chat with fellow fanciers from throughout the country. It was nice to see Paul Shipton of Corby Town after a recent leg injury.
Andrew Lees of Eyemouth enjoying the weekend with friends - Franny Sloan of Airdrie Dist who recently won BIS at Clarkston show enjoying the weekend
Its the best show in the world and we should support its existence as its the identity of the great sport in the country. I hear some say its not what it used to be ,but what sport is, have a look at your local football teams support, your local bowling or golf course they are all regressing, its a cultural change ,enjoy your sport and go out and do your best to promote your club and federation this year.
I took the time to attend the press room and speak with Helen and other staff I send my articles for publication; I also spoke with Andy Burgess of Pigeonbasics. Thanks for the wee dram Andy.
Enjoying a meal with Martin and James Emmett from Finglas over the weekend
Blackpool is what it is, its never really changed with its small hotels all serving up their own style of bed, breakfast and evening dinners. More pubs and clubs and cafes I have ever seen in a town. It?s not a criticism; the town has history that will always for me be the home of the Show of the Year.
Everyone has their favourite meeting place with friends who share their previous years ups and downs in the sport.
Fellow club member Dave Muir winner of section prize at the fancy show
It was good to see a good number of Lanarkshire lads down and took the time to have a few words with them. A note from Blantyre club that they are holding their presentation night in the Blantyre welfare club on Friday 26th Feb with a panel for all your questions, breeder /Buyer sale and top buffet all for a fiver. I have regularly attended this night and it?s always a great night.

Blackpool for me is what you make it a great weekend when you just get lost in conversation about pigeons and gives new enthusiasm for the future.
