LANARKSHIRE FEDERATION
Tom Corrie jnr
Kirkfieldbank FC. Presentation Night
South Lanarkshire Federation
The Crown Tavern in the Royal Burgh of Lanark was the venue for Kirkfieldbank. In the company of Tom snr., Danny Mitchell and Ian Lindsay we made our way over to support this great club and enjoy a terrific night with its members and friends. This is a great venue with classic historical features and the food is exquisite. You can see why they go back year after year as its probable the best of environments for such a night.
Tom Corrie Snr. and Ian Lindsay were this years top table guests and were met at the venue by Robert Wilson (club treasurer) Robert is a double National winner (SNFC & SNRPC) and is well known with his racing partner Dave Jack (Wilson & Jack ) .They again this year won the section of the National. This club is full of National minded fanciers who have one goal to win at National level and nothing else matters.
Donald Stewart,National clock setter took on the role as compare as John Frood was at home suffering with the flu.(John we didna want a free drink ha ha). After the usual cracking three course meal members and friends, the top table was introduced and gave a resume of their time in the sport before we settled down to a question and answer night of everything pigeons.
Vaccination and young bird sickness/syndrome was very much on the agenda and there were a few nuggets of information shared. This is such a great night with everyone appearing to share their knowledge of the sport to those around and with the night going into the long hours of the night everyone had a terrific night.
Ian Lindsay of Newmains club, a top fancier for more years than most have been in pigeons, really is one of the last characters left in the sport, he kept the night flowing with his joke telling and even a wee song he wrote which he got a standing applause for. Ian was telling me that on years gone, himself and a number of friends attended Blackpool show every year with their wife's and part of their entertainment was singing, comedy and dance in the company throughout the weekend. Great times. This was really a special wee night with plenty of conversation about our feathered friends.
This years clubs Champion loft, winning the Combine Average & Old Bird Average winner was John Stokes of Carstairs, John is top fancier who has excelled at distance racing into the west section of Scotland for more years than I can remember. If you haven't herd the name you don't now anything about distance racing into West Section. Special mention to Gordon Stewart who topped the federation twice with the same dark cock pigeon and had a great Inland programme.
John Stokes of Carstairs receives one of his Trophies from Tom Corrie Snr.
The club had its usual cracking National (SNRPC) season with both Wilson/Jack and John Stokes winning the section.
