Ingleton 1 - August 2014 

 

This week we headed to Ingleton, in North Yorkshire, around 130 miles back into Central Scotland. Liberated at 7am in a fresh west wind, the birds appeared to get a clear passage up to the Scottish borders. Thereafter they encountered horrendous weather, heavy rain and poor visibility combined in a gale force west wind. Only two birds made high 1100s but the rest struggled with lower velocities. On return the birds looked miserable, soaked to the skin and generally shell shocked. The returns were again a mixed bag but most were missing a good few birds. A number of fanciers have called it a day, looking to hold some yearlings for next season.

This week like most this season, Airdrie & Dist club has shown the rest a clean pair of heels, with two of the top lofts in the federation this year recording birds miles in front of the rest. The winner is Jim Wilkinson who needs no introduction to fanciers in this area, another top performance Jim. Next is the Lanarkshire all time greats GWP Macaloney with one of their brilliant Vandenabelle pigeons from the Shadey Lady lines. Well done to the both of you, an outstanding result.

Next race will see us back at Ingleton.

Well done Tom with a GWP Macaloney Vandenabeele of the Shadow Boxer lines. The dam of the winner was 1st section 2013 and the sire bred the young bird of the year 2012.
