The pigeons were liberated in perfect racing conditions at 0715hrs in a light S/W wind from Middleton, Greater Manchester, around the 170 mile mark back into Central Scotland. This was a very difficult day for the pigeons with erratic/poor returns reported throughout the federation. The reason is unknown with federations around the same area reporting excellent returns. Like years gone by, these races appear with everyone having their views but until the technology is available we will never know.
The federation was won this week by Jim Wilkinson of Airdrie & District club. Jim is one of the best fanciers in the area at any distance, winning many sections within the SNFC and one of the most consistent lofts ever to fly into the Scottish Midland Federation. After joining the Lanarkshire this season it hasn't took him long to make his impact. He had a great team performance with 1st, 6th & 8th Section. Well done Jim on winning the federation against 7,200 pigeons.
