March 2014 News

This great club had another cracking quiz night in the month of March. This year the special guests were John Preece and Dave Padfield, the cream of distance fanciers from Wales. With distance flying still very popular in Scotland, the hall was full to capacity, fanciers travelling from all over the country to the Avonbridge hotel, Hamilton. Ronnie Reid in his usual style had the fanciers laughing with his introduction. The four course meal was to its usual high standard, as was the service. And with a great atmosphere in the hall, a great night was on the cards again. Thereafter members and friends settled down to listen to John and Dave talk distance. These two fanciers put on a great night with lots of top tips on how to become a successful distance fancier and stay there as they have for over twenty years. With the night also including the young bird exchange and the presentation of this year’s framed photos of best performance pigeons, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

Last year’s top fanciers were asked to come up and receive the framed photos of their top performance which were donated by members. Well done all them, cracking performances at the distance.

The big question for 2014 season is, will the "Holy Grail" be won? This being the famous Gold Cup, this year’s Gold Cup, Best Average Races, SNFC Alencon, SNFC Ypres, SNFC Ancencis, SNFC Clermont, 4 bird nomination each race. At least one nominated entry must be timed in each race to win the Gold Cup. Best of luck to all. With 24 races to compete in throughout the season there really is something for everyone in this club.

Big thanks from the committee to all who attended and again to our Secretary Davie McCaig. His organisation is seamless.
