Lanarkshire Federation 2012 Presentation

LANARKSHIRE FEDERATION

Tom Corrie

2012 PRESENTATION

The Lanarksire Federation's presentation night was held on on Friday 8th February in the Holdsworth Bowling Club premises, with inimitable Sandy Strang as the entertainment. We had a good turnout of members attending and supporting their Federation and new committee members. It was good to see our former President George Bain and Secretary Ian Henderson attending and both were warmly greeted by the members. The committtee would like to thank Billy Bilsland our guest for attending and presenting the prizes.

The Holdsworth Bowling Club in Wishaw really is a great venue for such a function and with a cracking meal the night flowed seamlessly under the guidance of President John Quinn and Senior Vice President Jim Cullen. The array of trophies are a credit to the federation and each and every member who took the time to attend looked very proud of their achievements and silverware.

Sandy Strang was very funny and kept the members and friends laughing and entertained. The atmosphere around the tables was very positive and looking forward to the new season in the Lanarkshire Federation. As Buzz Lightyear said, 'to infinity and beyond'. With transparent communication from John Quinn and his team they hope to consolidate and strengthen the federation membership within the next season. Things will take time and there will probably be some difficult decisions to be made but with the members having the confidence and respect of the committee we can have a progressive forward thinking approach towards racing pigeons. Some clubs have already started in this progression by purchasing the second sets of crates that will help immensely in reducing the transportation budget. And with the talk of rekindling the West Coast Combine this again would benefit the federations who amalgamate for these chosen races, lowering the costs, providing safety in numbers and the chance to win a Combine.

The text message service is available to every federation member for a fee of £3.00 for the season. Through this service members will receive information on delays to race marking and also liberation times. Club secretaries to collect fancier's names, mobile telephone number and the fee. These details to be collected and sent to the federation secretary by the 1st of April. The website should be up and running within the next couple of weeks. The address is lrpf.co.uk Here, members will be kept informed of all the latest news including results and articles by yourself. I hope to get you a photo in the next couple of days of the fabrication process of the trucks. Last Monday they were just being finished painted, so by now they should be on to the fabrication which takes 2+ weeks.

A HUGE Thank You to James Campbell from the Lanarkshire members who managed to arrange a meeting between Jim Cullen SVP, Jim Cameron Sec/Treasurer and Tunnocks of Uddindston to discuss the possibility that Tunnocks would sponsor our Transporters. The meeting took place and Tunnocks have put a very generous offer to us that we are delighted with. Along with the sponsorship they will arrange the Lanarkshire Racing Pigeon Federation name to be painted onto the trailers at the same time the Tunnocks Logo is being done. This sponsorship will last initially for 3 years which will help the federation in the purchasing of the new Geraldy vehicles.

Below are photos of members collecting their trophies. Unfortunately I have not got all fanciers' names.
