Lanarkshire - Appleby Race on 5th August 2017

This week we move down to Appleby-in-Westmorland, a town and civil parish in Cumbria, in North West England. This is around the 107 miles mark back into Lanarkshire in central Scotland.  The birds were up at 8am in a light west turning north west on route. The winning pigeons hit the lofts around the two hours thirty five minute mark for velocities in the mid twelve hundreds .

Erratic is the name of the game for this race programme,getting a pigeon and then some taking all day and next to return Many suffering heavy losses.

They are not getting through these hills with any consistency.

Is it falcon attacks as many think or is it untrained birds not leaving the area. Have your own debate but again it was not enjoyable.  

This weeks winners are the brilliant GWP Macaloney who continue to put up breathtaking performances, this week winning 1st Open federation 2,600 birds and the first four in the centre section.

Well done to the federations all time Champions.  

 After a delegates meeting there is a change to race programme -12th August Appleby, 19th August Charnock Richards, 26th August Appleby, 2nd Sept Appleby.
