Kelso & Scottish Borders into Lanarkshire
Kelso in the Scottish borders was the destination for our last mid-week catch up race. With 3,600 birds and 4 baskets from Fauldhouse, it was well supported by the members.
The birds were away at 08 30 in a south west wind, with lovely weather on route the winners took around 1hr 18 minutes for the 63-mile journey. The birds appeared to enjoy their flight with many returning within the first hour of the timers. The committee have had challenging times with covid 19 and unfavourable weather but have stuck to the task and gave everyone that wished some excellent racing.
This week’s winner is federation President Dave McCaig of Uddingston & Dist club. He had a truly outstanding race recording 1st,2nd,3rd Open Federation and 1st,2nd,3rd,8th Centre section.
Dave has started the season excellently and has been up with the winners in the last three races.
His winner a yearling Blue C recorded a velocity of 1436.8 then 2nd Open yearling check hen on 1436.2,3rd Open Blue yearling hen recorded 1435. Well they all came together to delight Dave and record a memorable result. The winner is out of GWP Macaloney stock from their top stock pigeon Troy. Well done Dave.
The race was an excellent affair and with another race under their belt it hopefully holds them in good fettle for the coming season.

Update Due to transporter trouble, a fuel line in one unit and the clutch in another, the Ripon race had to be cancelled. This was another spanner in the works for a stop start season. The next race will hopefully be from Ripon.
