Ripon to Lanarkshire with Tom Corrie Jnr
The ever changing face of the British weather had race controllers on alert with thunder storms and gale force winds forecast for the weekend .Lanarkshire controller decided to race mark on Sunday for a Monday race from Ripon.
Ripon in Yorkshire is around 157 miles to this weeks winner and a very healthy convoy of 5,697 and 14 Fauldhouse crates were liberated at 07 50hrs in a light WNW wind.
This weeks winners are the brilliant racing loft of GWP Macaloney into the Airdrie club. They timed three birds together at 12 03pm to win the 1st,2nd,3rd,15th,16th,24th,26th Open federation, their winner was a dark check 2yr old cock called Dark Destroyer who is direct out of Man of War xDark Velvet. This is his second win just being pipped for Federation win as a youngster.Well done lads "Back on song"
The race was a real tough one, with the winning velocity down at 1088.The birds having to fight for every yard home. Many reported birds missing at clock checking that evening.
This is really been their first real test this season and its probable good that they got it around this distance as it should put the birds in better order for the remaining races.Time will tell!
