Main Open in the Lanarkshire Calendar

This week we arrived at the main Open race of the Lanarkshire calendar for 2020. Its been a difficult season for the committee to give the members some regular racing because of Covid restrictions, poor weather and vehicle issues.

Everyone has been frustrated with whats happening but thats racing pigeons for you.
Kettering in Northamptionshire England was the final destination of the old bird season. The poor returns in the previous two races had took there toll. Only 791 birds were liberated with two Fauldhouse club baskets at 07 30hrs in no wind for the 276 miles journey back into Central Scotland.Reports that peregrine falcons attacked the birds on liberation. What chance you got.

Paul Wullie Macaloney 2019

131st Open winners Paul & Wullie Macaloney
The winners recorded a good working velocity of 1225 & 1224 to the brilliant loft of GWP Macaloney of Airdrie club.As the title states this was a record breaking performance.Never in the Lanarkshire federation over 115 years history has ever a loft recorded four in a row of topping the federation in old bird racing. And possible its never been won by the first two pigeons that were 1st,2nd Open the week previous.Yes that correct the same two birds to the same loft, two weeks in a row.
Out of this world racing from one of Europe's top lofts. They are so far in front of the biggest federation in the British Isles its rather scary.
Week in week out they are out in front,no other fanciers can match their consistency in Lanarkshire.
They are the bench mark that no one can get near.
Their winners are two blue hens ,that have been in a league of their own the last two races. One as good as the other, both have come together, both managing to get to the front of the convoy. They have the breeding, the condition and the edge.
The winner Queen B has now won
1st Federation 2,004 birds
1st Federation 791 birds
6th Federation 981 birds
