We have come to the end of a long gruelling season which in history of racing must have been the most difficult! Covid 19. Poor weather and many, many other issues for the committee to deal with.
The convoy of 500 birds plus three Fauldhouse baskets were liberated at 08 15 from Ripon, North Yorkshire in a light west wind for the 157 mile journey back into Central Scotland. The winners took 3 hrs 41 minutes for the journey and by all accounts it was a good race with decent returns.
New member Lewis McCalley, who has been hitting the cross bar throughout the young bird season makes it 1st & 2nd Open with the same two pigeons that scored at the top of the federation last week.

Its a remarkable story for Lewis first year of racing in the federation to win 1st Open. He started with 15 youngsters and has shot right to the top of the federation. He wins the federation averages flying against 15,500 pigeons over a six race programme.
His performances are a credit to his fine husbandry of the sport and gives hope to all who only keep a small team.
His winners as stated are the same two that came last week to win 1st,2nd club and 3rd,4th federation Sedgefield.

The winner was of his best racer at his old loft, a BC off a pair of Woodroffe Bros of Sunderland. The dam is off a John Crook/Dalgleish cock that bred his 1st sect D ,28th Open Ypres 2016 when paired to a dark hen that was 1st NW fed Ypres. In turn her mother ,bred by Davie Hunter from Plean, was also 1st NW fed Ypres winning 6th Open SNFC. This hen won a few prizes including 38th Open Gold Cup Alencon

GWP Macaloney had their usual very impressive performance recording six pigeons in the top 10 of the Open, just different class!

They are again Champion loft of Lanarkshire winning the Combine averages and also the Young bird average in the federation. More records broken, only they will keep breaking.

We have come to the end of a long gruelling season which in history of racing must have been the most difficult to organise! Covid 19 ,poor weather and may other issues for the committee to deal with.
Thanks to the committee for all the support for all these years and to the members that took the time to support Lanarkshire news.
I have undertook the role as press officer to give the members the credit they deserve and raise the profile of our federation. Hopefully this has been achieved.
I wish Lanarkshire members all the best in the future.
