Lanarkshire Federation - Catterick Race
This week we were at Catterick, North Yorkshire around 139 miles back into Central Scotland. The weeks weather has been very unsettled, some federations changed their race day.
It looked difficult to predict what was best, our race controller Paul Macaloney stood fast and his decision was to go for a Saturday race.
The day started rather overcast but brightened up well and the birds were liberated at 10:15 in a light south east wind.
The winners made great speed, into the sixty miles an hour bracket. The fantastic GWP Macaloney had two pigeons that had a magical result winning the federation and beating the 5,300 Lanarkshire convoy and in total convoy of over 6,000 by over 100 ypm.
It’s a breath taking result from a race of only 139 miles and to put that sort of distance between themselves and the other lofts in Lanarkshire and surrounding federations.
Their performances are remarkable and every week they are looking to break records.
The two Blue cocks hit the traps to be first but like always there can only be one winner. They are bred out of their best lines including Stefaan Lambrecht Den Bulk, Vandenabeele ,Andreas Drapa lines.
The winner is called B-52 and is a previous 1st Open federation winner.
The 2nd Open winner Super 90 is bred out of Supermac 76 x Rik & Jan Hermans & Jan Hooymans breeding lines.
A real mixture of all their winning lines.
Well done to the Macs who win Airdrie club & Lanarkshire Social Circle as well as 1st,2nd,9th,15th Open federation. They are just on a different planet!
Special mention to our secretary Jim Cameron who has had 2 x 1st sections and 2nd section in the first three races. Brilliant flying Jim.
The race itself was erratic with birds scattered throughout the day. Returns were a mixed bag.
