Clydesdale Mid week Club, Symington, Scotland, Annual show 18/11/17

It was a lovely fresh Scottish winter day, plenty of sunshine.
This must be the most stunning area every to host a pigeon show, beautiful Scottish country side with plenty of history of pigeon fanciers to back it. The greats of years gone, like Dave Angus and Jock Allan who raced their birds to this area. These brilliant fanciers are still house hold names in this neck of the woods.

With the great Jock Alston of Ravenstruther, just up the road, winning the longest race from the Scottish National Flying Club this year, with the same blood lines as these immortal?s. It?s great to come down and get a feel for the history of this place. It really is a special place!

Robert Robertson really is a tireless worker running a cracking club every Tuesday during the racing season from Carstairs Junction. They race down the east coast of Scotland throughout the week, from race points such as Dunbar and Berwick and other special Open races. Many utilise it for training and are well catered for on the clubs Geraldy trailer.

Robert has organised a top show and with 555 birds in the pen this makes it one of the top shows in the land. Providing qualification for the mighty Blackpool show.

With classes available for show and racers then everyone had a chance to bring their pigeons and enjoy fantastic competition.

A welcoming cup of tea/coffee and a good all roll on square sausage (with HP sauce for me) to get us started. After the judging we were well looked after with three course meal of homemade lentil soup, stoves and custard and cake. You can?t get any better than that!

I can honestly say we were made feel really welcome and with a great atmosphere in the hall. All made for a great day out!

Special mention to Mary Thompson (BHW Scribe Marys Moments) who worked tirelessly throughout the show, she helped managing the secretarial side of the show. She really is a great worker for the sport.
