Burton & South Derbyshire Federation - 03-05-22

Burton & South Derbyshire Federation.

C. Leadbeater & Sons make a cracking start to the season in a steady race from Upper Heyford (1).

Saturday April 23rd saw the opening race of the 2022 season, from upper Heyford in Oxfordshire.  The strong N.E. wind made the birds work hard on their short trip home, but returns were fairly good from what I’ve heard?

With the east in the wind, Hill Ridware were always going to be in the box seat, you can’t give top fliers that much favourable conditions without being punished and they didn’t disappoint.

9 clubs sent 917 birds which were liberated at 11-30 in a strong N.E. win.

Congratulations to C. T. Leadbeater & Sons on taking 1st; 2nd; 3rd; and 6th fed on 1384; 1375; 1373; 1326. The fed topper was a 3yo Belgian rung cheq van loon hen, bred by their friend Frank Els in Belgium. Looking at the ring numbers, another 3yo cheq hen from the same loft was in 6th position?
