Saturday June 10^th saw the fed make their second visit of the season to Yeovil. 68 members from 9 clubs sent 920 birds which were liberated at 08-05 in a N.E. wind.

It was another stiff race for the birds, headwind all the way home, blue cloudless skies and temperatures rising as the day wore on.

D. Nesbitt & sons of Hill Ridware produced another outstanding performance; taking the top six positions in the fed; and 8^th fed too. Mark timed in his great dark yearling cock “64” first, well clear on 1350; to take the 3^rd fed win of the season for this great cock. His sire is a son of Adam Wealthall’s Lambrecht “Grizzly Bear”; his dam a daughter of Mark’s champion Hereman hen “Isla”. Runner up on 1330 was a yearling blue wf hen out of a son of “Isla” when paired to Bill Norths winner of the Tividale gold ring in 2021.

At Stretton, 7 sent 107 and Phil Bourke is back in the winners enclosure, taking 1^st & 3^rd on 1290; 1279; his winner was the good 2yo cheq cock, “Mo’s Bro”; he’s brother to “Mo” their good D & G Wright Soontjen cock, a previous fed topper, he returned home injured from Marlborough last year and is now in the stock pen. Their second home was a yearling cheq hen, her sire is “Bossman” a Leo Heremans bred by Flanders Ireland, her dam a Kris Wijnant originating from the Gordon Bros and purchased from M/M Lycett.

2^nd club on 1285 was Phil Whetton with his great 2yo red Lambrecht cock, this cock has won 2 x 1^st, a 2^nd and a 4^th in the last 4 races. Sire from T bird, dam De Zot lines from Matt Munslow.                                                                               

Mr & Mrs Pete Cox had a good race; they filled the next five positions, timing them in less than a minute. Their best on 1278 a yearling cheq cock off Ann Smith’s “Best Kittel” took 4^th club.

At Swadlincote Town, 11 sent 210 and Mr & Mrs Graham Evans took 1^st and 3^rd club on 1276; 1260; their winner a cheq pied hen is a 2022 late bred, her sire is their 2017 fed topper from Ancenis, he was bred off stock from Mick Harvey & son and Alan Brassington. Her dam is a Wildemeersch, off a granddaughter of “Fire Cracker”. Their second arrival was the yearling blue hen bred by Mr & Mrs D Wilson of Egremont in Cumbria, she also won 3^rd club Hullavington and was 7^th club the week before from Newton Abbott when Graham found her in the loft!

Runner up on 1263 was P. Brown & son with a yearling blue Jansenne hen from Tumley Lofts.                 

Davis, Wright & sons were 4^th on 1248 with a 2yo blue pied hen; she is a previous winner of 3^rd fed; her nest brother has won a 1^st fed; 3^rd fed and 5^th fed. Her sire is a Staf van Reet out of the lofts old family; her dam is a daughter of “Kev’s Boy” from Tony & Lee Painter.

Up at Holbrook, 10 sent 169 and Trevor Jennings team of Bob Fenech Louis Cooreman’s love these east winds. Trevor took the first three on 1288.3; 1288.2; 1288.1, the winner a 2yo hen, followed by the yearling hen that was 2^nd fed and winner of the inland special race the week previous from Newton Abbott; and 3^rd was another yearling hen; brilliant flying Trevor.

Kev Matthews was 4^th on 1272 with a 2yo Premier Stud Leo Hereman out of a grandson of “Den Euro”.

Into Derby now, at O.P.H.S. 9 sent 77 and the Shenton Bros took top spot on 1255 with a 2yo dark cheq cock out of stock originating from Mr & Mrs Childs & son of Stretton.

Mr & Mrs Alan Houldsworth were 2^nd & 4^th on 1247; 1241; their first same yearling cheq Herman Cuester x Lambrecht hen that had a 1^st and 2 x 2^nd in the previous 3 races. She was followed by another yearling cheq hen; this one out of stock from the late Reuben Hough x Spink & Barks. 

S & H. W. Hall was 3^rd on 1244 with a 2yo cheq wf hen off Dave Stone stock.

At Etwall, 6 sent 105 and Kev Southall took 1^st and 2^nd club on 1274; 1218; the winner a Platteeuw off the Cooper Bros of Kidderminster; runner up off Phil Whetton’s Red Destroyer lines.
