Osmaston Park Homing Society Shows 2022

Sunday November 6th was the start of the 2022 show season for the Osmaston Park Homing Society with the shows being held at their club Headquarters The Jubilee Club Chaddesden.

There were three classes which were Old Cocks, Old Hens & Any Age/Any Sex Fancy Colours. Judging this show was Darren Hadfield assisted by his good friend Linden Moats and with the condition of the birds being of a very high standard it was going to be a testing time for the judge. In the Old Cocks Class, they were 52 entries with Willis Family taking the red card getting best in show and also taking second. Taking third, fourth, reserve, very highly commended,& highly commended was Chris Gilliver with Hall & Torry taking commended.

In the Old Hens Class, there were 43 entries with Mr & Mrs Houldsworth ( Alan & Liz ) taking the red card also reserve, very highly commended & highly commended winning best opposite sex. In second was Chris Gilliver with Mick Stone in third and Willis Family taking commended.

In the fancy colours class, there were 47 entries with club secretary Steve Stone taking the red card with Stevenson & Willis taking second & commended. In third was Chris Gilliver with Willis Family taking fourth & highly commended. Taking reserve was Shaw & Inger with Hall & Torry taking very highly commended.

Sunday November 20th saw the second of the Osmaston Park Homing Society Shows. There were three classes which were Young Cocks, Young Hens & Matches Pairs with total entries of 105 birds in the three classes and the judge for this show was Tony Mather.

In the Young Cocks class there were 40 entries with Mick Willis & Family having an excellent result taking First, Fourth, Reserve, Very Highly Commended & Highly Commended also best opposite sex. Taking Second was Chris Gilliver with Stuart Wainwright in Third and taking Commended was Mick Usher.

In the Young Hens class there were 33 entries with Chris Gilliver taking the red card plus best in show, Taking 2nd,4th,Reserve & Highly Commended were Alan & Liz Houldsworth. Taking Third was Mick Willis & Family, Very Highly Commended went to Mick Stone with Steve Stone taking Commended. 

In the Matched Pairs class there were 32 entries with Chris Gilliver taking the red card also Third & Highly Commended. Taking second & Commended were Alan & Liz Houldsworth with Mick Willis & Family taking Fourth & Very Highly Commended and taking Reserve was Steve Stone.

Sunday November 27th and it was the third show of the Osmaston Park Homing Society Show series. There were three classes with a total of 134 pigeons entered. As usual the pigeons were of a very high standard and the judge for this one was Mark Williamson. The three classes were Old Cocks, Old Hens & Young Hens. Winning the old hens class with a total of 50 entries also getting best in show were Alan & Liz Houldsworth who also took Fourth and Highly Commended. Taking Second, Third, Reserve & Very Highly Commended were Stevenson & Willis with Commended going to Shaw & Inger.

In the Old Cocks class there were 48 entries with Stevenson & Willis taking the red card also Highly Commended with their winning entry getting Best Opposite Sex. Taking Second, Third, Very Highly Commended & Commended were Shaw & Inger with Mick Willis & Family taking Fourth & Reserve.

In the Young Hens Class, there were 36 entries with Stewart Wainwright taking the red card also Commended. Taking Second & Very Highly Commended was Mick Usher. Mick Willis & Family took Third  with Shaw & Inger taking Fourth & Highly Commended. Taking Reserve were Alan & Liz Houldsworth.

Sunday December 11th was the final show of the series for the Osmaston Park Homing Society. There were four classes, Old Cocks, Old Hens and Young Cocks plus the Champion of Champions class which was for all the class winners over the series. The judge for Old Cocks, Old Hens and Young Cocks was Simon Rowland from Mansfield and with 134 birds to get through which were in excellent condition he had a challenging task on his hands. In the old cocks class, there were 49 entries with Alan & Liz Houldsworth taking the red card and best opposite sex. Taking second  and Highly Commended was Dave Waddington with Mick Willis & Family taking 3rd,fourth & Reserve. Taking Very Highly Commended was Steve Stone and taking Commended was Chris Gilliver.

In the Old Hens class there were 48 entries and taking the red card also best in show were Alan & Liz Houldsworth who also took second,& Very Highly Commended. In third & fourth was Mick Usher  with Mick Willis & Family taking Reserve. Highly Commended went to Chris Gilliver with Commended going to Stevenson & Willis.

In the young cocks class, there were 50 entries and Dave Waddington who took the red card also took second, Very Highly Commended, Highly Commended & Commended. Taking third & Reserve was Stevenson & Willis, With Mick Willis & Family taking fourth.

In the champion of champions class there were 12 entries which were all previous class winners. Judging this class was Dave Stone and taking the trophy and winning the Champion of Champions class was Mick Willis & Family. In second, third, Very Highly Commended & Highly Commended was Alan & Liz Houldsworth. Fourth went to Stevenson & Willis with Chris Gilliver taking Reserve and Steve Stone taking Commended.

The show committee would like to say thank you to all the judges Darren Hadfield & assistant Linden Moats, Mark Williamson, Tony Mather, Simon Rowland & Dave Stone who not only gave up their Sunday mornings but did an excellent job judging the pigeons. Thank you to Simon Rowland for the donation of a 2023 youngster to each of the class winners on the last show. The people who gave sponsorship also donations over the show series Mick Willis, George Torry, Steve Stone, Steve Lambert, Jason Phillips & Brailsford & Doyle. Also, to everyone who supported the shows, people who donated raffle prizes and bought raffle tickets as these shows were very successful raising £500 to be raced for in 2023.
