Derry Clubs joint function -

A joint presentation between the Amelia Earhart and Maiden City clubs took place in the Rocking Chair Lounge on the 13th January last. Guest of honour for the evening was undoubtedly Derry’s top fancier Anthony McCrudden. Many thanks to Anthony and to the staff of the Rocking Chair for a great evening.

Top flyer in the Amelia Earhart club Ray McMonagle who won almost every Inland race  and also dominated the Cross Channel events. Also pictured is Ray’s nephew Nial who is always willing to help out, with the pigeons.

Pat Mc Laughlin, highest prize winner in the Maiden City club, including top flyer Old Bird and Young Bird. Amelia Earhart member Eamon Quigley from Donegal who was runner up Highest prize-winner. Robert Lyle, of Maiden City wins Roscrea Y.B, Fermoy Y.B and Talbenny (2) O.B. Billy Knox, of J & B Knox in the Maiden City, runner up Y.B prize winner, wins Roscrea 2 Y.B and also topped Section H from Skibbereen. Concannon Bros, win Bude and the Maiden City cross channel averages. Andy Mitchell, the Secretary Amelia Earhart steady season. The one and only Jimmy Quigley had a successful season with the Amelia Earhart club. Robert & Niall Cassidy partnership, Maiden City club enjoyed a great Old Bird season winning Tullamore, Fermoy 2 and Skibbereen ending runner up O.B fanciers. Thanks to Pat McLaughlin for the info.

Newry City Gold Ring 2023 – Newry City HPS have now got their Gold Rings in stock. We had a great response last year and hope to get more sold to make the pay-out greater this year. Race will be as last year flown with the Talbenny YB National.  

Remember last year’s pay-out. Mark Maguire & Son £500, Martin Peters £300, J & H Muldrew & McMurray £150, Donnelly Bros £75. In total £1,025 was paid out with £200 kept for club rent and new printer, as you can see we pay out as much as possible to give everyone value for money. INFC News Update - The 71st Annual General Meeting for Irish National Flying Club will be held in the Lagan Valley Leisure Plex, Lisburn Leisure Park, Governors Road, Lisburn, County Antrim, BT28 1LP on Saturday 4th March 2023 at 2,00pm sharp.

Agenda to include: 1) Apologies, 2) Minutes of last AGM held in 2020, 3) Secretary Reports for 2020, 2021, 2022 seasons, 4) Convoyer’s race reports for 2021 and 2022, 5) Passing of Accounts for 2020 and 2021 (These accounts are in the 2022 race entry form booklet), 6) Election of Officers for 2023.  

The proposed race programme for 2023 is as follows. Accounts 2020 and 2021 – Queries in respect of these accounts should be in the Secretary’s hands in writing or via e-mail at least three days before the AGM. Only queries in writing or by e-mail will be considered at the AGM.

The Management Committee have decided that no notices for the meeting will be posted in 2023 due to the current situation with the postal delivery service.
