Pinxton North Road HS held one of its first 2022 open shows which the organisation has operated for many years and this is welcome for anyone who keeps racing pigeons to attend for showing their birds or just for a social meet up to brake the long wet damp winter nights up and have some fun and a pigeon chin wag and catch up for this event. 

On Friday the 2nd of December 111 birds were exhibited for two shows of old cocks through the wire and old hens through the wire with cards and prize money on offer and the prize draw and pigeon raffle in flow and all birds in the pens it was time for the two judges to do their job judging the old cocks was Gavin Cooper of Groby Leicester and judging the old hens was Kevin Walker of Shepshed Leicester locally known as Fosse way Jack,

to the result of the cocks, 1st was Mick Willis & family of Derby with a stunning slate white flight cock being bred down from stock off Dave Waddington of Derby from his famous Bat cock this bird is very famous in Derby from the amount of winning and damage he performed a very special bird known in the local area which Dave purchased him as a youngster in a kit of 6 from the famous local Louella stud.

2nd was Ian Halbert of Poolsbrook with a pencil blue cock being a Jos Thone crossed Gabby Vandenbeale.

3rd was Glynn Tryner of Pinxton

4th was Mick Willis & family with a Gay pencil pied Staff Van Reet of Mark Caudwell stock

Reserve was Mr & Mrs Haymes & sons & Grandsons of Cromford with a blue cock bred by Dorian Cross of Wirksworth

very highly commended was Harold Griffiths of Pinxton

highly commended was Darren Oakley of South Normanton and commended was Wayne Knobbs of Blidworth

Over to the hens winning 1st was Mick Usher of Long Eaton with a chequer white flight Herman Cuesters hen.

2nd was Gregg Johnson of Ilkeston with a black pied Staff Van Reet cross Louis Verott hen

3rd was Gregg Johnson with a blue pied Jansen hen

4th was John Swinn of Blidworth Reserve was Wayne Knobbs

very highly commended was Darren Oakley highly
