MY SECTION WINNER IS A 3 YEAR old late bred and was not raced until she was 2 years old, this year had two short channel races as prep, the final one being Messac with the BBC which turned out hard for me. She was then rested for 5 weeks with no training before being basketed for Pau, she was sent on 4 day eggs her breeding was classic for my loft, she is a direct daughter of my Dancer when paired to his own grand-daughter. She in turn is from the 5 times Cock when paired to my Merit winner with the Classic who is a daughter of the Dancer. The 5 times Cock and the Dancer are both half-brothers of Proud Mary my Merit WINNER WITH THE NFC. My second bird was sent as the first was on 4 day eggs and with 2 short prep races with the last one being Messac with the BBC and again with 5 weeks rest. Her breeding is very similar to the first bird, her Sire being a half brother to the Dancer and Proud Mary, he is also Sire to my 19 th OPEN TARBES NFC OF LAST YEAR. THE DAM OF MY 2 nd SECTION WINNER IS THE SAME AS MY 1 st SECTION WINNER SO breeding as above. My 3 rd Section winner is a late bred 2 year old untrained as a baby with exactly the same prep as the previous two, her Sire was sadly lost in the first prep race going for a Merit Award this year his previous results were 15 th and 48 th NFC Tarbes. The Dam of the 3 rd SECTION WINNER WAS 10 th and 43 rd Tarbes NFC again lost going for her Merit Award with the NFC, her Sire was also a half brother to Dancer, Proud Mary and the Sire of my 2 nd SECTION WINNER MENTIONED ABOVE. My 4 th Section winner her prep races were exactly the same as the other birds but sent on a 4 day baby, she is a Grand-daughter of my 5 th NFC Tarbes winner of 2012 and my Hen which was 2 nd NFC Tarbes winner. Andy Parsons 2 nd SECTION 6 th OPEN BERT SHEPHERD OF WOODMANCOTE. MY BIRD IS BRED FROM MY TEAM OF JAN AARDEN KONIPIUS THAT I started back in 1978. I have had a lot of good performances over the years and many a good bird, this one GB17N03158 has now been named by my wife Andrea “Rainbow Lad” in the light of the Covid–19 virus. He flew Tarbes in 2018 as a yearling with the NFC and was 4 th SECTION 31 st OPEN, THEN AGAIN IN 2019 WHEN HE WAS 10 th SECTION 34 th OPEN. NOW HE LOOKS LIKELY TO WIN WITH THE NFC 3 rd SECTION 24 th OPEN AND WITH THE BBC 2 nd SECTION 6 th OPEN AND CSCFC 2 nd SECTION 4 th OPEN. He is flown on the widowhood and they are made to fly one hour in the morning and again at night. They are fed with the Beyers corn and sometimes are given a thirty mile training toss. I think he is now in line to win a NFC certificate of Merit award. A Great Grand Daughter of him was my first bird home from Bordeaux. Alan Annis 1 st & 2 nd Section E Chambers Family of Cannock. Our first pigeon from Pau this year is a 3 year old chequer hen who I now call "Hot Stuff” as she has now flown over 630 miles 3 times in very high temperatures. As a yearling she flew in the very tough 2018 Tarbes Grand National, as a 2 year old she was entered into the Agen International with the BICC which I believe was one of the hottest weekends on record in France, and now she has flown with the BBC in what has turned out to be another tough Pau National to win 1 st SECTION E. SHE IS BRED FROM OUR OWN “DUTCH Family” of long distance birds being a granddaughter of our 2014 NFC 1 st SECTION TARBES WINNER "DUTCH THUNDER” who earned his name when he was clocked in torrential rain during a thunder and lightning storm to win seventh open NFC Tarbes 660 miles. He himself is a grandson of our "Bergerac Hen” who won the diploma of distinction in the MNFC and is also a great grandson of our first MNFC Bergerac winner the Dutch Cock. Our second pigeon from Pau this year who has taken the second place in Section E, is a 2 year old hen who also flew the 2019 Agen International race as a yearling before being clocked this year from Pau. She is bred from a Chris Gordon hen purchased by my brother from one of Chris’ Blackpool auctions, and her sire is a Deweert Cock that was on loan to me from my good friend David Vaughan of Telford. I would like to say a big well done to the overall race winner Mark Gilbert on what was a truly excellent performance on the day of liberation. I would also like to congratulate the race organisers on their forward thinking approach to this race when looking to join forces with other organisations, in my opinion this has to be the way forward for our sport and I hope to see many more such races in the future.
