The Solway Fed was down at Eastbourne with the S.N.F.C. convoy on Saturday 19th June with 230 birds sent from 56 members. Liberated at 10.45am into a light fresh wind, the birds had to fight to get home with many, many losses and velocities starting at 1151 and finishing down to 664. What went wrong? Well we will never know but that’s pigeon racing for you. Loads of fanciers had their National birds in this one and they never came back, not even to this day a week later.
We have to congratulate the leading ten birds in the Fed result for a great performance.
Annan’s R S R & R J Rome were 1st, 3rd and 4th Fed as well as 29th, 76th and 122nd Open S.N.F.C.
Raymond White of Springfield takes 2nd Fed, 56th Open S.N.F.C.
Derek Nordon is 5th, 6th Fed, 153rd and 156th Open S.N.F.C.
Mr & Mrs J Graham are 7th, 9th Fed, 177th and 216th Open S.N.F.C.
A Henderson of Langholm is 10th Section, 285th Open S.N.F.C.

Hoddam F.C. 8/47
Winning their seventh race of the season is Mr & Mrs J Graham, they timed two taking 1st, 2nd Club on 1076 and 1062. My winner this week was a yearling Blue Hen and the second also a yearling Hen. G Dalgliesh & Son takes 3rd Club on 1020 and John Little is 4th doing 971.
Annan H.C. 7/22
It’s another 1st, 2nd and 3rd for R S R & R J Rome with velocities of 1151, 1107 and 1096. Their winner being a three-year old Chec Pied Hen. Dennis Anderson came in 4th on 1002.
Springfield H.C. 7/41
Also going well this season is Raymond White who wins here on 1129 followed by E Hodgson & Sons doing 996.
W F Van Nuil keeps up the good work and takes 3rd on 956.
Not much information on the other Clubs other than:
Nelson and Holliday take Eastriggs on 1006.
Davy Robinson wins Lockerbie doing 953.
R J Renwick has the first three in Brydekirk (no velocities).
Derek Nordon is 1st, 2nd in Langholm with 1083 and 1082 followed by R V Graham 3rd doing 1067.

D Owen takes 1st, 2nd and 3rd Club, 3rd, 6th and 8th West Section on velocities of 962, 726 and 696. His winner is a yearling Blue Pied Hen. Mr & Mrs Karl Guenther take 4th Club, 10th Section on 664.

A wee bit one sided here with Jim Seaton taking 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th Club, 2nd, 5th, 7th and 9th Section doing 982, 766, 720 and 679.
Nith Valley 5/15
A good win here for A Russell with the only bird doing over 1000. He won with a two-year old Blue Hen doing 1010 and of course topped the Section. J Millar is 2nd Club, 4th Section on 952.
