22 AP 1419 is a chequer hen bred into the Mark Gilbert distance family, linebred to "Golden Barcelona", Gold Wing Award winner 2014. He is her grandsire through her sire and her great-grandsire through her dam's sire, "Southfield Hugo", winner of 1st National Barcelona and 104th International against 15,700 birds and 1st National Perpignan. In the breeder's words, "a most beautiful grandchild of the double national winner Hugo and his father the sensational Golden Barcelona — inbred to the very best".
The Sire — GB19 N 81977 "Golden Guy"
Chequer cock · son of Golden Barcelona × Miss Gilbert
Golden Guy is a direct son of Golden Barcelona (BE09-5175848), described on the card as "one of the best Barcelona racers of modern times and now one of the best stud cocks at the extreme distance for Mark Gilbert". Golden Barcelona's own record: Gold Wing Award winner 2014, 6th National Barcelona, 23rd National Barcelona, 175th National Barcelona and 1st Provincial Barcelona. He is the sire of Southfield Hugo and of "Golden Lady".
Golden Guy's dam is "Miss Gilbert" (NL15-1687636), a direct daughter of New Laureaat and Kleine Jade, both 1st International Barcelona winners. She has bred at the top level herself: the card credits her as dam of the 1st and 11th National Agen.
The Dam — NL18-1084833 "Miguels Girl"
Chequer hen · direct daughter of Southfield Hugo × Mother Special
Miguels Girl is a direct daughter of Southfield Hugo (GB15 N 01248), the double national winner: 1st National Barcelona, 104th International, 15,700 birds, and 1st National Perpignan. The card notes that Hugo was loaned to Hugo Batenburg for joint breeding between him and Mark Gilbert, and Miguels Girl is from that arrangement. Hugo is a half-brother to Golden Lady, both bred direct from Golden Barcelona.
Her dam "Mother Special" (NL14-1040549) is a proven producer: mother of the 2nd International Narbonne 2018, 8th International Narbonne, 14th National Perpignan and 27th National Perpignan. She is herself a daughter of a 1st National Barcelona winner.
