Blue Dawn is a 2025 blue hen that brings together two very different, well-documented families. Her dam, Gold Mist, is a full sister to Gold Wing, 2nd Ace Pigeon of the 2023 Algarve Golden Race from an original entry of over 7,300 birds — and she comes from a pair, Incredible II × Sarah, that has put five youngsters into the results of major One Loft Races in three seasons. Her sire, Rikki, is pure Gaby Vandenabeele: a grandson of the top racer Royal Blue, with Bliksem behind both his sire and his dam.

The Sire — BELG2016-3084275 "Rikki"

Blue cock · pure Gaby Vandenabeele · Bliksem through both parents

In the card's own words, Rikki "contains the best Gaby Vandenabeele including Bliksem, Wittenbuik and a direct son from top racer Royal Blue". That direct son is his sire, Royal King, a prize-winner for Gaby Vandenabeele himself: 1st from 167, 10th from 1,974, 16th from 2,815, 18th from 3,125, 56th from 2,625 and 108th from 19,782. Royal King's sire, Royal Blue, was a top racer who won prizes against up to 15,507 birds; his dam, Mona, is a Bliksem daughter whose children won prizes in races of up to 14,271 birds.

Rikki's dam, Zus Ballon, was bred by Gaby Vandenabeele and is a full sister to the top racer Ballon, and a granddaughter of Bliksem. Her sire, Baluwe Kweker, is the sire of Ballon and a son of Den Dirk. So Rikki is a grandson of Royal Blue, a nephew of Ballon, and a great-grandson of Bliksem on both sides.
